Problems with M-Audio Keystation 49e midi keyboard after 10.4.7 upgrade

I've noticed a problem with my midi keyboard and GB3 after this most recent OS upgrade. You start playing the keyboard using some instrument such as Grand Piano. After a while there is no sound coming out. You must turn off/on the keyboard, then it starts working again. Sometimes its not as easy, and it requires shutting down GB and restarting. This morning I had to actually reboot the machine before I could get any sound.

This is really a pain in the neck. My son is trying to practice his piano and keeps having to power cycle the keyboard every 5 minutes.

Any suggestions? This has happened before the OS upgrade, but it just seems to be happening more in the past few days.

Thanks,
Alfredo

Thanks for the clarification, so yes you seem to have an issue with the computer, possibly OS or possibly hardware. The midi port can be decativated by the OS (like if it reports that it is drawing too much power) In that case testing with another machine would be very helpful. Another way to rule it out would be to boot to an OS on another device (like an ipod with a bootable tiger install), maybe you could try booting to the install dvd and checking the apple system profiler under the installer menu, if it does not turn the usb port off at that time, then that might indicate that the issue is related damaged files in your OS on your startup disk.
