iPhone lock screen keyboard bug

On my iPhone 5, with iOS 7.0.3, in about 5% of the time I try to unlock my iPhone, the keyboard is split between the 2 windows. I use a complex code to unlock my iPhone.

If I slide the window, the second half of the keyboard is visible, but I cannot access to all the letters (the keyboard move with the window), witch I need to enter my password. The solution I found is to enter some letters, slide back to the lock screen, and then the keyboard return to a normal shape.

I have that since I switch to iOS7, I tried to restore the iPhone, no change. My iPhone was change under guarantee for an another problem, the bug was still there, upgrade to 7.02 and 7.0.3, no change. I have contacted the apple support, they never heard about that, so they suggest my to reset the settings, and then to disabled all the disable facilities (like the parralax thing).

Does anyone have the same problem ? Is there a solution ?

I have the same issue. iPhone 5s running iOS 7.0.3 and I have simple password disabled. Parallax has been disabled since iOS 7 install. I never had it before using the complex password, but that may be circumstantial.

Due to it happening on the 5s, I just open the phone with my print when it occurs.

I had this issue on my 5 shortly after iOS 7 first went from GM (gold master - no issues with this in any of the betas) to the official release. I also only noticed it when I had taken pictures from my lockscreen (I was on a vacation and it left my phone unusable trying to call/find the rest of my friends on the trip) and restarting the device didn't improve the issue. As a “techy” person, I DFUed the device and started as new as any good iOS user should - same thing happened! Bought a gold 64GB ATT 5s and started THAT as new. Same issue, only the Touch ID as a lucky work-around. As photography being my thing - this is annoying. 7 is so unstable! I even had the issue for a split second with my 128 iPad mini retina Verizon which I am now DFUing for other software related nightmares at only a week old. Unless something on my MacBook Pro 15" retina is "contagious" to all my iOS devices, iOS 7 needs an extreme overhaul for reliability ASAP. I chose apple so I could rely on hardware and software that would always function correctly when I need it. Now mavericks is even screwy. I'm really losing faith here and about to return my investment of the $900 iPad and try something else until they get this hammered out.

"Make an appointment at an Apple Store"...!?!! Really??? T40, S4B

Sometimes words fail me. Why do people bother posting such useless so-called advice?

Surely they have better things to do?

You're quite correct, I do know the answer to both of those questions.

Merry Christmas - and good luck with figuring out the code...

PS Bug still happening, but life goes on (it just means I use a proper camera instead).

I have had the same issue from the day I went to iOS 7, am on 7.0.4 now. One of the ?.?.[1-4] did make it a little bit better (only take a few seconds to get normal keyboard back verse minutes with 7.0.0).

Seems to happen for me after the following (not 100%, but pretty close):

- Open camera from lock screen (take photo or not)

- View images from camera in landscape mode

- Use home button to exit

- Use home button again to unlock

It is pretty easy to duplicate and can every time if I do the above 3 or so times, seems to happen more if I wait 10-20 seconds after locking from photo app.

Not sure the above helps anyone other then confirming your not alone, but this is clearing a coding bug around [Lock Screen/Complex code/Camera from Lock Screen] and not a "reset phone" condition. I run an IT department and have done a lot of GUI testing over the years, this is a no-brainer to reproduce.

APPLE: Are you watching these threads? We have found the area of the bug, easy to reproduce - come on!

Me too (5s, latest iOS)! Forgot when it started to happen, but the first upgrade to iOS 7 could very well be the cause. Very anoying. Nobody else I know personally has this problem. (But i am pretty sure I had this on my old 4s as well - on iOS7).

Oh. And I too have those chrashes on my iPad (2. Gen) every now and then when I use the app switcher. Not what I hold to be quality software.

AND I have a strange bug since iOS7 which renders my aperture smart albums useless as on both iPhone and iPad some of the criteria (date between ... and ...) is ignored! Instead of single years those albums show all the photos of that category...

Disappointed...

I found a way to reverse to the keyboard with the normal size thanks to the post of Phares1 above.

The bug is produced when you activate the camera from the lock screen and that you take a picture in landscape mode. Therefore when the keyboard appears zoomed in the lock screen, do this in order to get back to the normal size:

- activate again the camera from the lock screen,

- put the phone in portrait mode. You might have to first swerve to landscape, but do end with portrait.

- press the sleep button

It worked for me. The bug is still there, but at least I know how to get back to the normal keyboard.

This means that actually you should routinely avoid to press the sleep button when your camera is in landscape.

Hope it works for you.
