OSX Mavericks Midi Quicklook No Longer Works

A few Apple employees monitor and sometimes answer in these discussion pages by a "company" Apple doesn't respond.

QuickTime 10.3 ends support for dozens of codecs and file formats (including MIDI) so QuickLook will no longer play the file. Browser playback for MIDI has also ended.

The only way to play them is by using QuickTime Player 7 or third party software.

Infuriating decision. Another "Pro" dud move by Apple.

Is basic MIDI support that hard to bring back? We use it every day in our business so it has slowed our work flow down big time. Help us Apple!

I agree. It reflects Apple's flippant regard for A/V pros over the last several years.

i use Sweet MIDI Player.app for Yosemite but it still isn't the same i don't want to have to open software just to steam a quick 20sec midi clip

if enough people send them emails to get the problem notice then we'll have progress. right now its not a high demand for them but like a said if a certain amount of people tell them we want this add-on then I'm sure we could see it in upcoming updates

Wow, just found this out the hard way. Apple just continues to find new ways to suck. I mean how many working features are going to keep getting removed from OSs and apps? It just gets worse and worse with everything they do.

When I click on a MIDI file in Finder, it actually shows a spinning animation that makes it look like it's loading and going to play, but never does. Is this evidence that Apple has in fact reinstated this feature and my computer is just slow?

Quit sending me Apple support email. Cut it out or I'll deactivate this account.

Go to the top right of the thread and click the following box to stop the e-mails. It should change to Follow.
