Since OS X Mavericks install, app store, terminal, preview and other apps do not open.

After clicking on the icon you get one bounce and then nothing. I have booted into safe mode and used an external app to run scripts but still nothing. Anyone else having these problems?

Hi, I did everything, but nothing has brought me out of this misery 😟.

I Updated Maverick just 2 days after it release. Had no problems, other then slow Finder. I restarted my iMac last week, and got caught with these issues, known to me, not sure what all bugs are there.

All these apps does not work: App Store, TextEdit, Preview, Terminal, iBooks, Maps.

I do not know how to do a clean install, as I had upgraded from Snow Leopord to Mountain Lion and to Maverick using App Store, which does not open at all.

Hoping to get some response soon from Apple support team to help me.

With all due respect, I think it's a bit silly to open a new thread to discuss the very same issue highlighted by the first post in this thread - my App Store, Terminal, Preview and a few other apps are not opening after upgrading to Mavericks. There is nothing else to say. I don't think the system matters, as long as it's upgradable to Mavericks.

Saying that, I've stumbled across a few solutions which I will be trying out.

I agree with stormfromwatford. I was having exactly the same issue as the original poster; it would be inefficient and unnecessary to open a new thread to describe the same problem. In fact, this would make it more difficult for others to find a solution since they would have to navigate several different threads, which is exactly what happened to me.

For anyone else experiencing this issue, I found the answer elsewhere (sorry, I don´t have the link to the thread anymore). This problem is apparently caused by CCleaner or similar software that must have deleted key configuration files (DriveGenius DiskSlim in my case). THE SOLUTION IS TO REINSTALL MAVERICKS. Note that this does not require a clean install, just reinstalling on top of your current setup, so you will not lose any files or configuration. After I did that, I stopped having any of the problems discussed in this thread.

First attempt a clean install...

If this doesn't work, which it didn't in my case, then download

Pacifist.

You will need a copy of the Maverick installer.

Use Pacificst to " Open Apple Intallers"

The go to Contents of Mavericks->Contents of EssentialSystemSoftware->Contents of Essentials.pkg->Applications

Then Click on the programs that don't seem to be working and insall. This helped me update certain applications that weren't working such as App Store, Font Book, Mail, and any others.
