my facebook setting keeps saying "Error Signing In" "could not communicate with the server." How do I fix this?

ok these steps worked on my iphone 5s, question - when an app asks for my location should I choose "do not allow?" I would still like to have my location on there, but do not want to interfere with facebook working, which shouldn't effect it to begin with, but obviously did

I'm totally frustrated - the suggestions for a fix are for the ipad (which is working fine) and don't seem to apply to my iphone - is this problem unique to the 5s or all iphones. Regardless... help!

This is exactly what I did and it just worked for me:

1. Deleted and Reinstalled FB app.

2. Settings>general>reset>reset location & privacy

3. Logged in thru Facebook app

4. Success!

None of these suggestions worked for me. I tried everything even resetting the computer I even tried reloading my profile and they still didn't work. The biggest problem was it wouldn't let me delete my Facebook account and it wouldn't let me create a new one under the settings. So I reset my whole iPad back to its original default settings yes I had to reload everything but I didn't store much on my iPad. It gave me time to clean it up anyway and now I'm just reloading apps that I know I use now. This was such a pain but in the end I now can post to Facebook from my photos and I can use apps like Pixable again.

I have the same problem. I can solved by these process

1 From Ipad setting>general>reset>reset Network Settings

2 wait for reboot

3 tap facebook app

4 fill user name and password , it will reactivate FB again

If you have the iphone 5c, don't download Facebook through the app store. So delete the one you downloaded through app store, once you have deleted it, go back to settings, and you'll notice Facebook is still there. Well apparently, Apple has Facebook already set up on your phone, you actually have to set it up in settings. Go figure, right? So the problem is the Facebook in app store is incompatible with the 5c, and probably the 5s if I had to guess. I did this, and I no longer get prompted with that silliness. Hope it works for you all.

i have a problem my brother uses my ipad sometimes and this is what it shows im logged in to my acct on facebook and it says under the facebook logo and installed icon "there nis a problem accessing your account. please reenter the password for"my brothers name" .

and when i enter my password it gives me the error posted. ive done the deleting and redownload and the setting deleting the location thing. what do i do?

My facebook app works good, but sometimes a tab pops up telling me to go settings. When I click to go setting, it says that i have to enter my facebook password. Then it says 'could not communicate with the server". It's been happening for ages. I wanted to share a video via youtube on facebook and it told me there was an error and hat I have to go to settings again.

I have an Ipad Air and I've got it in Christmas. Please help cause it's annoying!

Wow- i have this same problem- and have already invested TOO much time going over the various methods of fixing- with no luck.

Im using an ipad air on ios 7.1.2. the Facebook app works fine but there is no connective use with other ipad functions - I always get the 'there was a problem accessing your account please re-enter the password for.... '

I cannot delete the account and there is no switch in privacy to use.

I get the 'Error signing in - could not communicate with the server' message too.

Really seems incredible that there could still be this problem affecting so many - not what I expected using the latest ipad with the latest ios and latest updates.

Apparently, if you changed your email or your password during the update of the app, the new app does not recognize this new password or email, so, what you have to do is to change it to the old password, delete your app from your iPad, reinstall the app and now it works for me. I hope it works for you too!

Logging out of everything and doing the delete account (had to hit delete account a few times before it would work), and then adding it all back helped immensely, now I am finally logged in! Thanks ketanvora!
