MacBook Air not wake up after sleep

Hi,

My MacBook Air(Mid 2012) can't wake up after sleep. I recently updated operation system to Mac OS X Mavericks and now after sleep mode screen goes black and nothing happens after this. Only thing that I could do is hard reboot by pressing power button and boot again. Do anyone have the same issue and suggestions how to fix this?

Thanks in advance

Dmitrii

This same problem happens to me - attempt to wake from sleep and the keyboard lights up and computer is completely unresponsive, necessitating a hard shutdown-reboot. I have the mid-2013 MacBook Air.

The only instances of it occurring that I have noted are when:

i) I am on battery power (though using the adapter, I have set MBA to never sleep);

ii) I try to wake the MBA within about 1-2 seconds of it sleeping.

It ALWAYS occurs just as I tap the spacebar to prevent sleep, and otherwise, the sleep/wake function works as normal. Again, this has only occurred since updating to Mavericks, suggesting software issues.

I have reset the SCM and also turned off all battery-saving functions (turning off hard-drives when possible etc.) - resetting PRAM isn't something that is going to help the situation, according to the relevant apple supprt page.

Doing these things unfortunately hasn't change anything 😟

I have early 2011 MBP, upgraded to Mavericks from directly Lion (Mountain Lion was too buggy for me).

It doesn't seem to make a difference if my laptop is connected to a power supply or not - as soon as it is left alone after going into sleep mode (including closing the lid or just leaving open for long enough for the monitor to go off), then I can only get to see the login screen, but after ~2 seconds, whether I click on the password-field or not, I get the beachball, which seems to be a neverending beacgball of doom - have left it for 20 minutes and it never got itself out of this limbo.

I have read a lot of forums, but nobody seems to have found a permanent solution to this whole debacle.

I will try an Apple Genius Bar sometime soon, but I won't hold my breathe there! Hopefully Apple will just release an update for Mavericks very soon!!

Her is a temp. solution. Do a SMC reset, then do not adjust anything in power settings, just leave it alone. This work for me.

SMC RESET

  • Shut down the computer.
  • Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
  • On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
  • Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
  • Press the power button to turn on the computer.

Delete startupitems

Repair Disk in safe mode

Repair Permission in safe mode

Deactivate bluetooth

no one works. the problem came back again after 2/3 hours.

i try to inzialize disk and install again Maverick. same issue

I surrendered. I disabled sleep mode and wait for an upgrade from apple

I've been having this problem intermitently, no pattern seems to be emerging on my 2013 11in MBA, I have read some other posts and they have been succesful reseting the "hibernate" function to 0 from it's default of 3.

This trick has been known to work, I tried it and will see tomorrow if it does.

  • Launch Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app)
  • run pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
  • If you see "hibernatemode 3", you may go on the process, or else you need tostop and try other solution
  • run sudo pmset hibernatemode 0
  • Enter your admin password
  • MacBook Air not wake up after sleep
