Quicktime Error -2045 in Compressor 4

SInce installing Mavericks, I consistently encounter a failure when eporting a video from FCP X through Compressor 4.

The encoding in Compressor runs about 10-15 minutes and then fails with message

"Failed: Quicktime Error -2045"

I have trashed the Compressor preferences. No help.

Also, for background, I can can export the video directly from FCP X using the Share menu.

Anyone have any idea what is going on with Compressor.

System and all applications are fully up to date.

Thanks,

Compressor, 4

I'm stumped two.

The most disconcerting element is that it happens on two different computers.

I am now going through the project and will delete various element for further testing to see if I can narrow this down.

I have created almost 200 videos with FCPx and Compressor and have never seen this before.

Will report in this thread whatever I ultimately determine.

Thanks again for taking some time on this.

Had a suggestion which appears to work.

From FCPx, use Share Master. Then drag that file to compressor and run.

This works ok.

So it is a workaround.

This sort of tells me that the problem is not with Compressor or with FCPx itself, but with the Send To Compressor process.

As a more or less final note, I ran tests continuing to cut things out of my project until it worked.

I cut out all music and all transitions.

The video appears to fail once the length gets beyond about 12 min 30 sec. The items in that time area are simple jpg slides with a 5 second time and a small ken burrns effect.

I can't seem to draw any useful conclusions from all that.

But thanks to all who chipped in here with comments.

Yes, I saw Innocentius' "work-around". The workflow he suggested is one that I've followed over many years of using differnt versions of Compressor and found to be the most reliable. But even though Send to Compressor can be flaky, I'm still surprised (and baffled) at the odd behavior you've experienced by using it.

Good comments Russ.

Final bit of info: I decided to test with a different, but also long, video and had no problems.

So a possible conclusion is that the problem video has some sort of corruption but I sure can't find it. And the problem with that video only started with installation of Maverics.

Anyway, who knows. Another unsolved mystery.

Well that's new info.

Look at the stills you have on your TL at approximately 12:30. I know they're all JPEG's, but any chance that one of more isn't RGB?

Select a range that includes the location where your export is failing and see if that short export also fails.

If it does try re-importing those JPEGs and replacing them on the TL.
