New mail messages not wrapping text in Mavericks

No, this has not been fixed. And it makes Apple Mail virtually useless. I had better email readers 15 years ago. Just give me the **** text! For someone like me who gets hundreds of business emails a day, having to scroll horizontally is the same as never delivering 3/4 of the email. Like tiktok, I'm going to be forced to look for a decent email client.

oh dear, I have more bad news. Just tried Outlook for Mac on the same mails and the same problem occurs. Airmail wraps ok but it's interface makes me want to poke my eyes out. (I *need* mail in a list above preview).

Any other ideas?

Same thing is happening to me. This just started today. To the best of my knowlege I haven't made any changes to my i-mac and I'm using the latest version of the OS (ver 10.9.3). Apple needs to get on this and fix it.

and still broken in 10.9.4. I'm now working on the assumption that this won't be addressed in 10.9 at all...

I am having the same issue since I moved to a new MS Exchange email. Messages look just fine when I compose them, but the recipient has to scroll for miles. Has anyone figured out a fix??

Solution is remarkably simple: Scroll all the way to the right side of the unwrapped e-mail, then when the two horizontal arrows appear, click on the mouse and holding down the left click pull the right hand side of the e-mail way back to the left until you have the size you want. Let go of the mouse of course. And that e-mail, and all the others that have been unwrapped and going off endlessly to the right, will be as they were before: perfect. Glad if this helps because I was trying various solutions for hours before I stumbled on this answer.

Nope that didn't work for me.

I was using One Note and copied the text from One Note and pasted it straight into a new Apple Mail message. Interestingly the font that was carried over was from One Note, not the default font I have configured for Mail.

Thinking that might be the problem, I pasted the text from One Note into a pure text editor (Sublime Text 2). Copied and pasted from ST2 to the same Apple Mail message - still the same problem.

Then I exited the Email message (didn't save) and created a new message. I pasted the text from Sublime Text 2 into the new "clean" message. Wrapping returned to normal, AND the default font I use for emails was restored.

I figure something "extra" got copied over from One Note and corrupted the email message. Its possible its font related?

Who knows, that ANY of this stuff works is a miracle to me!

This might work:

--Go to Mail/Preferences

--Check "use classic layout"

--Quit Mail

--Reopen, go back to preferences, uncheck the box

--Quit Mail

--Reopen

This seems to be working for me, even after a restart.

Update: this fix stopped working, and trying the same solution won't help. I don't know if there's a preference file issue somewhere, or what, but I echo anyone who has said ***!

I'm on version 8.2, and this is still a problem. I'm starting to think seriously about switching back to Thunderbird...

Yosemite 10.10.5, Mail 8.2 and still the same problem.

Mail.app is obviously abandoned by Apple and not used by Apple's staff, otherwise they would have corrected the many bugs in the message editor/viewer, most of them being present since Tiger.
