I upgraded to pages 5.0. My documents have many hyperlinks. When I convert them to PDF files the hyperlinks don't work in the pdf files. In pages: file > export > pdf > best image quality then to desktop. The links work on page 1 of the pdf file but not on the remainder of the pages. With the previous version of pages all the hyperlinks worked in the pdf files I created. Something I need to be doing with the new pages 5.0? Help. The links are a key component of my documents.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for this Peter. So far I've converted about half of my manuscript chapters from pages 5.0 back to pages 09 4.3.  The hyperlinks on PDF files I've created from pages 4.3 now work again an all pages of the PDF files. I'm relieved and actually its sort of nice being back in good old pages 4.3.

Thanks again

Yep its a bug shadowlake.  All you can do is submit feedback.  Doesn't work via PDF button on the Print dialog either.

The stupid bug that messed my workflow up! I can't understand where the **** developers from Apple are looking? I think Jobs was the only person who actually held the whole thing tough. And now we all are witnesses of Apple developers' Great Relaxation. **** it!

    Found a fix!

    1. In the new version of Pages, export your document to a Word doc. Save.

    2. Right-click on that Word doc in the Finder, Choose Open With > Pages (4.1) [Or just open Pages 4.1 yourself, then use File > Open and choose that new Word doc]

    3. The old version of Pages opens your doc. Choose File > Export... Choose PDF. File will save where you choose, links active and working just like old times.

This is my first discussions post and hope it's useful!

hyperlinks work only on the first page, so it is a bug and not intentional.

i hope they fix this quickly, i don't want to install an older version just to use the workaround.

I used the link to report this bug. Thanks for the suggestion.

Is there an app I can get to convert pages documents to PDF files, and back? This would solve the problem until apple fixes the bug. I've seen many apps that convert PDF files to pages, but I don't know if they do the reverse.

    Thanks.

OSX will print all documents to pdf.

Usually the links work, but Apple has really released a beta version of Pages 5.

Unless there is some compelling reason to use Pages 5 go back to the Pages '09 which should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.

Why would you want to export to Word .doc?

Just use Pages '09 4.3 in the first place and avoid the problem.

Another work around is to export every single page individual to a PDF and then merge them with Preview.

Why does exporting individual pages to pdf work?

Peter, I tried your suggestion of going back to pages 4.3: Applications > iWork09 > Pages 4.3  and the logo appears on the Dock. When I open it and try to open a pages document a box comes up saying 'You need a newer version of pages to open this document'. I already have pages 5.0 and that is the problem, at least with hyperlinks not working on PDF conversions. I don't see how to go back to using Pages '09 4.3. I must be missing something.

    Thanks again.

The hyperlinks work in the first page of the document. So if you set up several documents, each having only one page of your bigger document, the hyperlinks are conserved during the export to a PDF. Afterwards you merge all these individual PDF's. Obviously this only makes sense if you have only a few pages, otherwise it is a lot of work. Does this make sense to you, Peter?
