Where are my AudioBooks?

Where are my Audiobooks? Over the last 2 years I have purchased several Audiobooks and listened to them for the most part. Wherever I purchased them they showed up. I have a Mac Computer, iPhone & iPad and every one is different. Where are they? Everytime there's a system upgrade or update they seem to misplace them or move them. On iTunes there's a place for Audiobooks on the books section but there isn't a purchased button like on books? I don't get it! I paid $22-$30 for these Audiobooks and can't easily find them. A couple of times over the past 2 years Apple has let me redownload them because they went missing? Anybody else have this problem?

Mac mini, OS X Mavericks (10.9), iTunes 11.1.2

This is not about backing up Music, Movies, Books, Audiobooks & TV Shows. It's about where did they go? I can find my purchases on iTunes for everything but Audiobooks?

I had the same problem and I have the solution! I just did a chat session with support (https://getsupport.apple.com/). It took about 10 minutes because I have been using itunes for so long and have a long purchase history, but he was able to find all my audio book purchases and set it up so I could just go into itunes and click "check for downloads" and all of my audiobooks automatically re-downloaded to itunes on my computer. Now I'm going to back them up so it doesn't happen again. Use support. I couldnt figure it out either. They can help you.

To Add Audiobook Files To iPods via iTunes (Windows)

The Audiobooks Folder does not appear under iTunes Library within iTunes (Playlist view).

Audible audiobooks have been downloaded from Audible and are parked under the iTunes media folder.

How do you get the Audible files onto an iPod? Previous to 2015 there was an Audiobooks folder Library, as there is for Music, videos, etc.
One just dragged and dropped audio files from this folder into the attached iPod. Now, no audiobooks folder is presented in latest versions of iTunes (Windows).

To get the (Audible) audiobooks into iPod follow these steps (it is assumed the audio files have been added appropriately via Audible download to the iTunes media folder where music, etc., is parked).

  1. Attach ipod to PC
  2. Open iTunes
  3. Set iTunes into Playlist view (left panel shows)
  4. Click the three dots (…) in upper left
  5. Select Books and see the audiobook titles (present in the iTunes media subdirectory)
  6. Drag a book to the far left and a new column slides in showing the iPod.
  7. Drop the audio file into the ipod.

"They will only be where you put them." In my case, I have two external drives that I back everything up on, and they both crashed. what should I do? Should I continue to "spotlight" search for them and hope they appear? Let's not mention the fact that I had to update to whatever OS you're on and it destroyed my macbook.

"You get one download of audiobooks. Apple has been very kind to allow you to redownload. Have you not learned the importance of backing up your content yet?"

I've been very kind to Apple by buying their products.

Basically, Apple lets us redownload ALL of our music and video files. However, when it comes to audiobooks, we might as well be using SnapChat. I don't find any logic in this as a customer. I'm better off downloading my books and audiobooks from my public library. I'm better off downloading my books and audiobooks somewhere else. maybe I'll just go to my public library or their digital library and just borrow my audiobooks from there. And why go to an Apple store? it's incredibly crowded and I might as well stand in line at Chipotle. then agian, with Chipotle, I'll actually get what I want. What I waste of time--I'l just go to a used bookstore and buy these books for less than what Apple will charge me to "re-download" them!
