Why doesn't the ipad have a calculator?
The iPhone came with a really nice Rams inspired calculator by default. Why isn't there one on the ipad by default?

No, no one really knows why. Ever since I purchased my iPads, it's had me scratching my head as well.
They also didn't include the Weather app on iPads either. There appear to be a number of apps that are included with an iPhone but not an iPad. I'm scratching my head too.
I think the people that may miss the exclusion of these apps (calculator & weather especially) the most are ones that went from an iPhone to an iPad. I'm one of those people and I know I was really thrown by this.
Weather too.
its a real disappointment that ipad does not include calculator by default...all the free calculator apps on istore have adds... 😟
Even on the iPhone I always ended up using Google as a calculator because I always found it to be quicker (https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/3284611?hl=en), and occasionally Wolfram for anything more complex. That being said, if you need it offline that doesn't help a whole lot.
It could be worse...at least we finally managed to get an iDevice without a Stocks app.
Yet the iPod touch can. Yet it can't be tied to a carrier. Unbelievable apple.
It's a mystery isn't it. There are lots of good ones on the AppStore. I use The Missing Calculator. It's free and really nice. Also doesn't have ads, which I can't stand.
It's startling how little Apple listens to their users; how much more basic Is a calculator! I love my iPad but the limitations Apple puts on their products will make me stick w/ my Android phone and a PC laptop. Yet the legions of disciples who will buy the new new product sight unseen, camping out overnight to do so, gives them zero incentive to start listening. I like the convenience of a tablet to do random searches and check emails, but it doesn't differentiate from the competitors in that regard. As a standalone platform, It's largely a toy and entertainment center. I can use it for work, but only via several work arounds.

What is your technical support question?
I Love this company and hate it the same time.
why such an office and day to day use critical app like calculator is missing
from ipad that is considered a much more office use device than a iPhone- cell phone ?
i Wish to know what did the team responsible for ios integration for ipad was thinking about???
calculator app ?? its such a basic !!!!!!!!!!!!!
why do customers need to download annoying free versions of basic apps and suffer commercials and other "goodies" ??
is that what you wish your customers to go through ?
the most expensive operating system is lack of some minimum thinking
apple is continuously disappointing its customers with the smallest irritating thing ever since the creation of the flys
you ( Apple ) says its the! most powerful operating system in the world so make it true.
and if you already treated us customers like dummies
please do compensate with an apple original calculator App on the AppStore and do it fast
I don't want a calculator taking up memory space and am glad Apple made it optional. You can always ask Siri. When i need a calculator I reinstall the Calculator % app.
Memory? Are you serious??
You are talking about approx 20 mb for a function that is so must have
and you know what??
what will you say about game center and news stand and stock apps??? Does that botters you to?
because those one are surely less must have apps for daily use !
And you know what??
Let's say the memory is an issue - then apple can release an original apple calc app to the appstore
so everyone will be sattisfied
Since you asked I'd make Safari, the mail app, and the app store mandatory. Everything else is your choice. You can be sure if there were such an outrageous demand for a calculator app the iPad would have one. Does it bother me that the stock apps are there ? Not in the least. Just trying to point out what is important and must have to one person another person may have no need for.
$.99 fix. Here you go. iPhone calculator for iPad:

Apple really needs to have this stock in the iPad along with a shortcut in Control Center.
