Why doesn't the ipad have a calculator?

The iPhone came with a really nice Rams inspired calculator by default. Why isn't there one on the ipad by default?

its easy to understand why.

For a few years now, Apple has begun loosing focus. Rather than keeping what made Apple great close to heart, "it just works", Apple has diversified and spread out loosing track of details along the way.

we are seeint more and more bugs in iOS and Mac OS X, and in return we get Apple Watches.

Oh just put a sock in it. Your histrionics are ludicrous and outright lies. I’ve been using Apple products since 1982 and they have never been better in terms of quality and stability. Yosemite, and Mavericks before it, as well as iOS 7 and iOS 8 have been the most stable releases in history. All you have to do is go backward in time to the OS 9 days to see that Apple’s software is much better than it ever was. You read the Internet too much. Counting Google hits or discussion forum ‘views’ is the ignorant man’s way of determining what is really going on, especially now in the era of shills paid to post negative comments in the competition’s forums.

Agree with many of the posts above that calculator is a basic requirement. Searched for it in the iPad user manual under 'Basics' and that tells you it's accessed via Control Center yet it's nowhere to be found. Downloaded the recommended one on appstore to be asked for access to location details - why?? Then find it full of ads.

Poor show Apple.

The one that gets me is when searching for an app. By default Apple features foolish childish bs for iPad mini. I often have to go on the Internet to find the app I need. I found the App Store on iPad mini will not bring up the app in question even when searched by name.

I believe the search results show the ones that have been downloaded the most first. So, perhaps other people have different tastes or needs than you.

Thank you Meg

i would certainly hope other people have different tastes and needs that me. It would be a strange place if that wasn't so. Here inlies the problem. The world can pound you with adverts specifically geared to your lifestyle yet Apple pounds you with the status quo.

I've had my iPad for a year now and use it primarily for engineering problems and I might add here I don't need any bigger better. I have other computers for that. For the most part it's perfect ..yet it fails to gear up to my specific needs. And sends me on some chase thru a mind field of nonsense. That there is the bases of this discussion. Not what the masses are satisfied with.. For the life of me I don't know what "downloaded the most first" would have anything to do with me..I would be more interested to find out what other people use in my field of study.

IF I were running Apple I certainly would treat people as unique individuals and not assume a mass consumer mentally. In today's digital world that would not be too hard to do. A little respect would go a long way.

THanks for listening

H.

ps if Apple is looking for coders with that specific mind frame I know just the people.

pss look at me specifically geared for Apple... practice what you preach they say lol

They can just leave it in the appstore then, so I wouldnt install/remove countless apps to find it. I can even accept blown up iPhone app. Is that so hard?

I dont want to even pay 0,99 for a basic and essential app, already paid a premium price for this.

I can't believe people are supporting this BS, are you guys receiving free ipads?

Not everyone considers it a "basic and essential app". I've never had reason to load one on my iPad. If having this app pre-installed is essential, perhaps the iPad is not the right tablet for you. iPads hold their resale value very well.

No one here is getting free iPads. I admit, Apple did once send me a pencil for participating in a survey.

do you really say the same thing for the ios on iPhone?

for a product even getting sold for business, I really cannot see the point of your reply.

"ah yes, iPad is lacking a default calculator" sorry to say that, hope its not a blasphemy....

The point of my reply was that not everyone has the same opinion about the need for a calculator on an iPad. Nothing more; nothing less. I use my iPad for business. As it turns out, a calculator is very rarely required in what I do. I'm not sure why you feel the need to be so belligerent about differences of opinion.

Perhaps you should check out some of the suggestions earlier in the thread for free calculators.
