Two finger scroll not working properly in Safari and Chrome since Mavericks

I have this same problem in the Preview app when reading PDFs. Just stops scrolling. Tap an arrow key and then two-finger scrolling on the touchpad starts working again. For a little while, at least.

I have the same problem with the PDFs. There seem to be a lot of glitches/problems with mavericks so far.

same issue here. After having upgraded to Mavericks scrolling became an issue.

It freezes/stucks apparently randomly and in every application (Chrome, safari, preview, openoffice,...).

Tapping a bit around on the trackpad and trying to scroll nervously up and down scrolling starts working again.

It seems a stupid thing, but I must say IT IS A PRETTY ANNOYING BUG, in my opinion.

Hope this get fixed soon, even because it is not the only bug/malfunction introduced with Mavericks.

I increasingly regret my choise of upgrading to Maveriks as days go on and bugs get discovered.

I know bugs are unavoidable in new products, but, for god's sake, I would have assumed Apple being testing a new OS much better than they actually seem to have done, before realising it (doesn't matter wether it is realeased for free or not). Even because they don't have to think of hardware compatibility too much, given that you can only run MacOS on apples hardware, which means you know all the possible hardware configuration you have to take care of.

I'm having the same issue. It occurs in Chrome and Safari, although other apps may be affected as well. Restarting those apps seems to re-enable scrolling for a while, but then it is lost again shortly after. Photoshop, another app that sees alot of time on my Macbook Pro, has not been having this problem.

I'm having the same issue with iTunes since upgrading to Mavericks. Has not occured in other apps yet.

I am having the exact same issues. Very annoying. Two finger scrolling stops functioning for a short period while still responding to other inputs i.e. single finger tracking, four finger swiping, etc.

i'm having the same issue - I have a brand new MBA (mid 2013) and I use preview a lot to view PDFs and intermittently the two finger scrolling will freeze. if i then move the mouse i can continue scrolling - the freeze seems random and I recently downloaded another PDF viewer and the problem persists so it likely has to do with viewing the PDF's not preview

Same problem for me too... Annoying. Eagerly waiting for the system upgrade, it really is a key feature for Apple PCs.

I have the same issue with the magic mouse. If I swipe between pages safari and chrome freeze. Open a new tab and it's OK on the new tab. Also tap to zoom no longer works. Up and down scrolling stops intermiitently as well. Relaunching the program works for a while, but only for a little while. I'm really regretting going to 10.9.

I don't know about the preview but in safari and chrome, this problem is deu to the unresponsive plugins or the pages that are halted. This cause every pages in your browser to behave so.

I bought a brand new Macbook Pro 15" yesterday and the browser freezes if I try to use two fingers to swipe back. It happends in both safari and chrome. This is really not okay.

I think I have a solution. I use 2 monitors with my mini and I've been very frustrated with Spaces in Mission control. So I unchecked "Displays have separate Spaces" in System Preferences for Mission Control.

Now swiping between pages no longer freezes Safari or Chrome. At least for now.

Same deal, but with an observation. After Mavericks, I noticed that when I use Wordpress or similar site that the instance of error was almost unavoidable. Is there something about Wordpress (java?) which would cause this to happen?
