alanaha,

There is a work around-

Upgrade printer driver to the latest Mavericks compatible driver.

In your page set-up select a standard paper size (no custom sizes)

If the print is still scaling, then select an even larger standard paper size.

Keep increasing paper size until the print appears correct.

Yes Apple should fix this issue.

Apple Engineers do not monitor the discussion boards, so the only way they will address the issue is if users call and report the issue or submit the issue under the Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks bug report/feedback.

The same is happening with our Ricoh Aficio SP C821DN. When we use custome paper sizes the print does not come out to 100% scale, it scales to fit. We are running Mac OS 10.9.1 and have installed the Mavericks version of the printer driver.

The tedius workaround we have found is to import the PDF to Illustrator and scale the artwork between 104% -105% and then print directly from Illustrator.

This issue only happens with custom size paper. Reload the printer driver that is compatible to Mavericks, and when you print, you must select a size from the available paper sizes. Delete all of your custom paper sizes and avoid using them. I would have to assume that when/if a fix is generated, the custom papers will need to be remade. I had already tried that, and it still did not work.

The problem cannot be solved for me in this manner although I do appreciate that sticking to standard paper sizes does work. For my HP printer the standard A1 sheet is only offered in portrait which I then have to orient in the printer dialoge. This seems to work until you try to print when it still does it in portrait, wasting a deal more paper. The only workaround I currently have is to print at 106%. It should be 105.8% but the result is close enough.

I am having the same problems as everyone else. We run a small digital and offset printing business, we have to use custom paper sizes - This whole situation is ridiculous. Spent hours today downloading Mountain Lion to a bootable USB. Have erased one Mac hard disk and will have to reload Mountain Lion. (you cant do an Internet Recovery and reinstall - it only lets you reinstall Mavericks!).

Can't believe they have released this software with so many issues. I have put a feedback in to Apple to report the problem. I agree we all should do this otherwise it won't get fixed.

Apple, this ist absolutely not professional ! We as architects can´t work with mac os x anymore if we can´t get prints in 100% scale. Is a Mac only ment to be used by kids that love blinking bonbon-coloured nonsense programs without serious functionality ?!

Every new upgrade of the apple system seems to be less professionel. Is there any reason anymore not to use a windows machine instead..

Apple - don´t forget the serious part of your clients !

Hi there. We have exactly the same problem with our HP Designjet 500. When using custom page setup everything is coming up smaller then the real size. Big problem for us becoause most of the time we need to print large drawings and custom sizing the paper is the only way. Tried to download the raster driver from HP website but that's no good. At the moment we have to use another machine (which has OSX10.6) and print through that. Iis VERY, VERY annoying. I hope that solution will be found soon...

For those who don't have the option to select a standard paper size, here's something that worked for me. It's a temporary solution — hopefully Apple/HP will provide a permanent fix for this soon. But until then, here's what I did: 1) figure out the percentage of reduction in size you're getting 2) based on that number, increase the scaling to get the actual size. For my latest project I was able to get the actual size (I use an HP DesignJet 510) by selecting my custom paper size, then upscaling to 109% (make sure to constain proportions so both width and height upscale). You might also have to adjust your custom paper size to allow a little bit more room for the upscaling (I had to increase height by about 3 inches). Your scaling percentage will likely be different from mine, and might vary from project to project.

Print out size lost control after upgrade to osx 10.9, cannot print 100% document original size, why?
