Ipad Air yellow screen tint on left hand side?

Hi, I have just got a new ipad air today. I am noticing that the left side of the screen has a yellow tint. Should I take it back for a replacement?

iPad, iOS 7.0.3, Ipad Air

Maybe I'm just saying that because I'm coming from an ipad first generation, so I don't really want to get rid of this one, but still. By the way, my ipad 1 had yellow at the edges of the display, .5cm from every edge, never bothered me. Maybe it's because it wasn't a retina display. On these beautiful screens it's easy to spot small flaws.

I purchased my iPad Air from Walmart. Glad I did. I picked it up at the store today. When I did the start up I noticed a thin black/blue vertical line 1/3 from the right edge from top to bottom. It is present on every background. I will return it to Walmart and see if they have one I can actually boot and look at while I am there, otherwise, I'll shelf buying another one for a while until the screen issue is resolved. I don't want to spend $655.00 and have a veritcal line through the display. Disappointed but ever hopeful. Apple is going to take a beating on this first round of Airs.

The more I think about this the more I'm thinking about skipping this gen. I have a 4 and a mini that still work very well and have perfect screens. Just not worth the hassle of a screen lottery.

Same here...as long as I still have an older iPad with a perfect screen (we have a mini, a 3rd gen and a 4th gen, all flawless), getting something that had a inferior screen would be a waste of time and effort. I detest potentially having to deal with the issues of the the early iPad batches...screen uniformity, mis-aligned interior magnets. If I would be guarateed to get a "good" unit, I'd be getting one right now.

Totally agree with mini2 might too have the same issue, but I'm still buying it anyway...'cus I don't have any tablet at hand...meanwhile, I'm tired of doing the lottery, if my mini2 isn't flawless nor acceptable enough...I'll return it in no time, and go with another cheap none-ipad tablet and skipping this gen...waiting for ... i don't know...iPad Air 2?

From all the iPad Airs I've seen in person from several friends, family and display units, ALL of them have the same yellow tint on the left side. The only difference I've noticed is that some show it more than others. I'm keeping this replacement since it's the one where the yellow is less jarring and noticeable. But so far, I'm yet to come across one that doesn't have the problem. I think all of this production batch comes with it. Sad.

I noticed the yellow tint on the left side of the iPad air. It was very noticeable the first few days. After a few more days of uses. It has been slowly disappearing. Now I don't see it anymore. It's probably the glue needing time for it to dry. I said give it at least a week. If the tint is still there then get a replacement.

I would definately consider that as an option except that I have rarely been using the iPad due to my disappointment at the screen.

I read earlier in this thread that leaving it on at 100% brightness overnight helped, so I've been trying that for the past 2 days. During this, I haven't been using the iPad.

Looked at the screen again this morning just to check, and it's an improvement.

I took photos of the bad screen when I purchased it so I'll compare pics of now and then just to see! 🙂

I booted my new iPad Air without any cover on it and have the book spine defect...a thin black/blue line 1/3 from the right (my right which would be left on screen). I don't seem to have the tint issue though. That line is not going to go away. Glad I purchased at Walmart and not on line. No Apple store within 100 miles from me.

I have an exchange coming via AppleCare and if my experience with the 4th gen is any indication then I won't be receiving a proper screen. It will more than likely have the same issues as my current Air. This has been and will always be a problem with iPads until someone with enough pull and interest can get those people in the tech press to make the general public aware of this. I emailed the office of Tim Cook after getting two faulty replacements for my 4th gen and they tried to help all the while denying that they knew of any issues with the screen until I sent the tech a link to a thread on MacRumors. They just kept having me run tests on it myself, probably with the hope that I would get frustrated and give up, and sure enough I did because I did not have the time to deal with it. If we can get someone at TWiT, 9to5, MacRumors, and others then maybe something could be done about this. Until then, this whole thing is just a futile effort and a waste of time on our part.

The magnets to hold the base of the Smart Cover are on the left, not talking about the ones that put the Ipad to sleep. Theres been issues with them already because some Ipad Airs have them in the wrong area so Smart Covers weren't fitting right. But as mentioned the Mini has no issues so can't be them anyway.

MaysSense - The problem is those sites don't ever take Apple to task on anything, they rely on a good relationship with Apple so don't tend to rock the boat.
