Ipad Air yellow screen tint on left hand side?

Hi, I have just got a new ipad air today. I am noticing that the left side of the screen has a yellow tint. Should I take it back for a replacement?

iPad, iOS 7.0.3, Ipad Air

I returned the first ipad air with book spine to the left, and purchased a new one through Black Friday sale. And of cause it has a yellow tint to the screen o the left 50%. I also got a replacement for the first mini, which had the yellow tint to the bottom 50% when in both portrate position. I immediately exchanged both. My third air has a slight book spine to the left without obvious yellow tint, and the third mini has a gradual yellow tint to the bottom portion. The tech woman at the apple store in Oklahoma told me she can't see any deficits. I'll probably keep this third air but I'm not satisfied with the third mini. I have until January 7th to return so I have some time to think about but it's extremely annoying. We shouldn't go through this in the first place.

I got my first iPad Air which hat a dead pixel and a yellow tint on the left side. Returned it on the same day and got the second Air which had no dead pixels but a terrible yellow tint.

I then called Apple support and asked them if this was a known error with the display. The support employee convinced me that my screen was defective and this was not normal at all. So I made an appointment at the nearest Apple Store. Big mistake.

I drove there the next week and as i explained my problem to the "Genius". He immediately told me that my iPad was not defective, but rather had the same problem as all current iPad Airs have. Therefore he couldn't help me but would exchange it if I wished so.

I then checked all iPads in the Apple Store and all had the same yellow tint on the left side - some devices more some less.

As the tint on my iPad is very bad I then wanted to exchange the device anyway. The "Genius" then told me they had no more of my iPads in stock. Yeah right for sure.

So now I am completely frustrated and disapointed with my new iPad Air. I do understand Apple charges a premium price for a premium product but the Air is medicore at best as the screen makes the core component of such a device. Where the heck was quality control on this device?

A note for Apple: I buy Apple products for the build quality not for the hypster image.

Black Friday I bought the 64G Wi-Fi with Cellular and found the yellow screen on the left side.

I brought it back today to the Apple Store and they replaced it with no questions asked.

I get home and open and get ready to restore and notice again the same yellow left side display.

I am going to call again tomorrow and talk to someone and see what the best next steps would be.

I bought an ipad Air from the Bromley store last week. I noticed a gradient on the long edge of the screen. After some research I realized it wasn't just me. It had the book spine effect and a line effect across the screen, which I noticed later. I was given a replacement in store but it had the same book spine problem. I didn't take it and ordered another from Apple online. I'm not holding out much hope though. It's not right to be spending over £500.00 for a sub standard product. I can imagine Jony Ive speaking in that slow considered way: "To truly... experience... the third... dimension, we researched... the optimum book spine... gradient. We call it the... iDon't care if it's good enough... just pay us and go home gradient." Thanks Apple.

I went today to the apple store here in Huntsvile AL, after weeks of waiting for a new batch to arrive. What an awful experience! I got the 64gb ipad air wifi version and it had the "book spine" on it, and also it was cracked on the back. It looked like a refurbished device. I told the "genius" and he nicely replaced it with another one that was worse. It had a lot of dried glue and small dents on the back, and the "book spine" again. I told to replace it immediately and he called the manager. The manager showed up, claiming that she didn't see anything wrong with the unit. My husband and I told her to look the big shadow on the left side and she keep saying she didn't see it. I even told her that there was a big thread going on in the apple support communities about this problem, and she said that people will always gonna say things about apple products. It looks like she thinks people are lying or something. I told her that I have many apple products and neither of them have problems like this one. She said that all ipads air were different and they will never look the same. After she said that I was on my way out of the store. My husband went to get the refund and look the store units with the same problems. I would give my last try in January after all the selling in Christmas or I may just wait for the ipad air 2 and stay with the ipad 4. It is really upsetting because I really like the device, but I feel that it is not fair I am paying a lot for a faulty screen.

That screen is not something anyone would normally ever look at, in video and regular use, seeing that would be as non-existent.

There is only one LED bar in the Air (to save on battery), and such that the LCD is transparent, seeing the "spine effect" is normal.

Now post ANOTHER picture of your Ipad3 and your Ipad Air with a normal picture etc. and see if anyone here can see a difference.

You have a 14 day return policy, contact Apple if needed for options.

I'm not worred about what it looks like in that picture, rather, if it doesn't drive me crazy during normal use (for me, being reading lots of scientific literature and web browsing), which it does. The picture just serves to elucidate the issue which is very difficult to capture on any camera I have during normal use, as you suggest. I'm starting to think these issues may be a product of the technology as much as they are of QC. By the way, I'm assuming there are LEDs on the bottom and right side, at the very least?

Who cares? I certainly don't. Apple's feats of engineering are only as impressive as their ability to maintain the same quality and consistency as seen in previous iPad screens. Many of us, from all corners of the globe, have purchased and subsequently returned iPad Airs with screen defects. I don't think this is an isolated issue. I personally have purchased 3 Airs and have had to return them all. Is it possible to get a screen with uniform light and coloring? Yes, I have seen display models that were perfect and as advertised, but it would be myopic to say that the rest of us are being overly picky in pointing out the flaw(s) in design/production. I don't think this story is going away, and the din of dissatisfaction will only grow louder throughout the holiday season as more of these units are unboxed.

Same here. I returned my 64GB WiFi iPad Air due to yellowing on left hand side, only to find the new replacement has the same issue but worse! I've just found this thread and it looks like I'm going to have to return my Air and wait for Apple to fix this design fault. Having bought a new iPad every year since launch I am very, very disappointed with the Air. The screen quality is totally unacceptable Apple.
