Ipad Air yellow screen tint on left hand side?

Hi, I have just got a new ipad air today. I am noticing that the left side of the screen has a yellow tint. Should I take it back for a replacement?

iPad, iOS 7.0.3, Ipad Air

It sounds like that cbtlr has a lot of inside information from Apple... or not.

But lets get back on topic. I am typing right now, not on my iPad which I had returned, but on a PC with an LG sceen, LCD 21", and funny enough, it features a nice large ***** tint on one side of the screen.

that's a cheap LG display, I can leave with that. But not with the Air.

What are we still talking about? We're talking about famous Apple Retina Dispaly, that's what we pay for. So, wherever the problem come from, the fact that iPad Air has a yellowing hue + uneven back lighting just like cheap low cost displays should never been described as something 'normal' .

And accusing people who dont accept that as people with OCD is simply unrespectful.

I'm now waiting fro my fourth replacement, and I will certainly not give this up.

iPad Air and Apple are NOT ordinary products, and their price are not ordinary EITHER.

Apple must know the problem of course - otherwise they would not accept to exchange our iPads so many times. And despite our sourness, one must

admit Apple's customer service still works prefectly, that's the reason why I will keep on buying their products at the end of the day.

THE SECOND UNIT IPAD AIR -- WAS OKAY!

Roundabout 14 days ago I had got a brandnew iPad Air 64 GB Cellular which I ordered in APPLESTORE and noticed at once the yellow tint at the left side. I phoned to APPLE and they told me I'll get a new one ( I live in Germany).

Yesterday i've got the second unit and I can report that this iPad Air has no yellow tint on the left side of the screen.

I was afraid to get more defective units.....

Last years 2012 iPad Mini weighed 308g , the Retina Mini weighs in at what you're stating so have no idea what they're talking about, sounds like some spiteful staff member playing games.

Suggest going to a different branch, if you're not happy about the Mini whether it's the second faulty unit you've had or the sixth lemon you should be able to still get a refund or an exchange, you didn't ask to be in this position, you just want to buy a great iPad and be done, no one wants to be testing equipment for them, noboddy wants to keep having to return lemons it's embarrassing and it's embarrassing for Apple that this Oklahoma branch has treated you this way.

Cbtlr,

Your absolutely wrong. I love people like you who assume every ipad air is defective. I bought mine from target and the screen is perfectly white all across no yellowing no bookspine effect, no backlit problem and I have a friend who also purchased one from staples and his is perfect also. There are 45 pages of complaints here approx. 4500 posts 10 per page for argument sake, how many millions have they sold. If every single one was defective dont you think apple would have a recall or stopped temporarily to fix them. I laugh because I've seen some people here exchanging out 10 ipads, truthfully, they are lucky apple has such a lenient return policy. If they started to do like Best buy which after too many returns your black listed and cant return again, this nonsense would stop. Granted its possible to have a minor issue here and there but come on 10 ipad airs and every single one of them has issues. Maybe some of these users should have their eyes checked instead and maybe they are seeing yellow where there isnt any yellow...lol

Girl I don't want your love.

Glad you don't have a problem....but why exactly did you land in this forum? seriously this girl that loves strangers finds herself with a perfect iPad so she goes looking for people with faulty iPads, that's bizarre! denial? c'mon your iPad is flawed too isn't it.

yea cbtlr,

my ipad is flawed. only mine is sitting floored. lol. keep dreaming. I came into the forum originally to help people who were having problems for your information. I gave my serial number, because I couldnt believe so many of these units were defective. I still dont. Keep returning yours, I hope the apple police handcuff you and take you away. People like you dont deserve to own one of these devices, Girl I dont want love from you either.

Was today in Westfield for Christmas gifts reason but anyway I stopped in the Apple store in order to check again (and again ...😝) displayed iPad Air. I was able to see 3 iPad Air with a really bright screen and cooler white. Also I didn't catch any uneven issues when using a white pic with 100% brightness set or when looking at the keys of each side of the keyboard.

All was 16Gb devices, 2 was white/silver Wifi and the last one was a Space Grey 16gb Cellular (maybe the better one in term of brightness). All serials are starting with DMPLK... But again not sure this is something which can explain...

This is really frustrating to see that there is really good iPad air screens when I've did a lot of unsuccessfully swaps...

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of looking at an iPad air with what appeared to be a flawless screen, Didn't see anything that jumped out, hard to examine 100% because of overhead lights.

Launched Safari, looked at the screen at 100% brightness, around 50% and around 25%, no tint.

Looked at a black screen, a slight amount of light bleed, but you really had to look for it and know what you were looking for. This was a 16 Gig, White, WiFi. DMPLK also like the post above. Really irritated me, because I haven't scored one yet. Seriously considering giving up on the air, been looking at the 2014 Note (I know, I know).

The air was on display at an AAFES store, my understanding is that AAFES got their shipments much later than anyone else, at least at this particular store.

I was really disappointed too! But it looks like or the Serial means something with respect to the screen model or this is rather related to the iPad Air 16 gb... Or both maybe. Because this is really "strange" that the devices coming with this serial look to have a flawless screen.

I didn't check the production week related to the serials but my guess is that they are from the first production weeks.

You're completely wrong and I don't know how you possibly think you're right, you clearly haven't even done the slightest bit of research. "RM interference" isn't even a real thing. What is RM even? How many times to I have to repeat that magnetism does not affect LCD displays? It just doesn't work like that, I'm sorry.

Also, when apple ships returned devices to get remanufactured and tested, they go to a facility inside the United States. I you look at the return address on many fedex box that AppleCare ships to you it comes from one of their U.S. Facilities. They're in several places, some are in Texas, some are in Pennsylvania, there's even one in California I think. They don't ship it all the way back to china, only new devices are manufactured there. If apple stores choose to sell returned items that were returned for refunds, they can only sell them as open box items. They can't claim it's a brand new item that hasn't been used, they have to say it is a certified open box returned item. No one is getting deceived. Honestly, use your head, no company can do hath at and get away with it, especially not one as big as apple.

iPads that are exchanged for replacements at the Genius Bar NEVER get resold, even as open box returns, because they were exchanged due to a defect. They automatically go to the u.s. remanufacturing facility. They can't put defective items on the shelf, sorry. Google it. The only people on the internet that will be supporting your claim in this are those that come up with the ridiculous conspiracy theories. There is no conspiracy. This has been a problem with every ipad since the ipad 2. There have been screen problems in the first production run of iPads and iPhones for several generations of devices. Google that too.

Additionally, your immature personal attacks at those trying to correct you is only working against you. Acne? Honestly? How old are you even? What does acne have to do with the ipad air? We are just trying to tell you the truth of the situation and what is actually going on. The problems with these screens is the edge lit backlighting. Read the cnet article the person a few posts up posted. It's very informative on how edge lit back lighting in these thinner displays causes problems for uniformity. Try holding a magnet, or even a really big speaker up to your ipad screen. Nothing will happen. Like I said, if magnetism really did affect LCDs, then every cell phone ever made would have screen uniformity problems because of the two speakers they have that are in close proximity to the display.

Please let us get back on topic, before someone bans you for personal attacks.
