QuickLook is crashing the Finder in Mavericks

In Mountain Lion, I could view a folder of JPG files in the Finder, hit the spacebar, and view the file in QuickLook. Then I could use the arrow keys to quickly move up and down in the list to find a certain picture.

In Mavericks, I can do the same thing, only the Finder crashes after several pictures are displayed.

Surely the Finder isn't running out of memory, I have 16 GB installed. Anyone know why this is happening, or how I can fix it?

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9), 16 GB RAM, 2x2.4 GHz Quad-Core Xeon

Lots of thanks for the "create data folder" tip! It solved my Quick Look problems immediately. :-)

Encouraged by that success I tried the same to solve my Calendar sync with iCloud problem. Whenever I tried to switch on the iCloud calendar sync in preferences, preferences crashed. With the idea above I created ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.CalendarAgent/Data and synching started right away.
