Nov 2, 2013 6:05 PM in response to danelby Drew Reece,You should understand that Mavericks should be better with RAM because it will compress it & avoid writing to disk for as long as is possible (a process called swapping). Older versions would swap as soon as RAM was full, Mavericks will allow you to use more.
You can create a system report via this tool…
http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck
The RAM statistics will be near the bottom. I'd suggest you post it here & we can look at it & point out any obvious signs that could cause the system to misbehave.
Older software seems to cause problems, so if you upgraded (kept all your old data & apps) there is a good chance you have older stuff that could be causing the issues.

Nov 2, 2013 6:12 PM in response to deggieby isd503,They were not really THAT bad! NT was their second network capable OS (Windows for Workgroups) being the first. NT was bad at first, but they fixed it pretty quickly. 2000 was not that bad at all.

Well, easy enough to go back to ML especially if you have a Time Machine backup.

Nov 2, 2013 6:17 PM in response to danelby Barney-15E,Works fabulously for me.
If it's been running for a day and still problematic, use Etrecheck* to see what system mods you have installed and confirm they are updated.
Another thing to review is the Console, All Messages. Look for anything that is repeating constantly or says "throttling, respawn."
Finally, reinstalling may help. You don't have to do anything special, just reinstall from recovery.
*Etrecheck was developed by a poster here to list all the things that modify the system, among other things. It will report the information and allow you to copy it to the clipboard to paste it into a post here.

There were many, many more complaints after the release of Mountain Lion than there are after the release on Mavericks.

Nov 2, 2013 6:25 PM in response to petermac87by Barney-15E,Yes, but everything was ok for him when ML was released. He didn't come here and see all the complaints when ML (and Lion, and Snow Leopard, ...)
I wish there was a way to easily compile the statistics on that premise as I think you are correct. However, the problems listed for Mavericks seem more severe (or at least not as easily remedied) to me.

The Battery issue (as in Mavericks) has seemed to have raised it's head again. This time a little more severly from what I can see. Apple addressed it reasonably quickly in ML (to some degree) and I would hope they do similar in Mavericks.
My only issue was Glimmerblocker and Little Snitch ceasing to work, but easily remedied. For some reason my batteries have been pretty much unaffected, but the complaints go well beyond these forums.
It would be great to have a comparison chart of complaints after each OSX release. But it would probably only cause even more venting and argueing!! lol
Cheers
