More than 24 hours on and all these off topic and non-technical posts remain. Odd how pro Apple users say what they please & Apple critics with valid points get deleted minutes after posting.

Kate_Mac, your good intentions to educate & inform users are wasted here. The 'community' doesn't want informed users making their own desicions, it want's group think.

If you want to make a difference I'd suggest finding a Mac user group or help a local charity keep their Macs running. Apple users can be reasonable when they are not hiding behind an internet.

You can rant and complain, whine, moan, whatever towards Apple. You just can't do things that violate the Terms Of Use, like posting a Poll or not asking a Technical Support type question. I didn't think it was really a poll, per se, but on first read, that's what I thought.

A better way to achieve the desired outcome would be to ask a Technical Support question, such as...

Hi, I was thinking about upgrading to Mavericks. I am looking for things to watch out for so I can do it right the first time. If you could, please lump your responses under the following broad categories:

  • Software Incompatibilities
  • Preparing the Drive
  • ...

You could then compile all the answers into a User Tip here or a Blog post somewhere else, both of which very few will read based on what gets asked here over and over and over.

I never saw anything posted here from Kate_Mac that had a poll linked, either the email filters have changed or it was another thread entirely.

My post pointing out that Apple could do to help migrators more was pulled for being 'offtopic & non-technical', but we still have the pearls of wisdom…

Off you go then, to spread the word that Apple does not make yogurt as you previously had assumed, knowledge of this magnitude should be shared.

What I learned from this thread was the highly technical concept that Apple Culture is not a reference to some type of yogurt as i previously assumed. Now that I have mastered that concept I feel--oh, never mind. Thanks to all for helping me realize my error.

Thanks for the input.

Yes so did everyone else, only KMac denies it. But telling lies has become her/his forte now and I don't know about you but I detest liars.

- On topic & technical?

Both Kate_Mac & myself do not have access to the user tips (you can clearly see from our level), so perhaps it would have been more considerate to offer some assistance instead of what followed?

A "poll" is any inquiry which solicits opinions, ideas, comments, etc. It doesn't have to be a link to an outside source.

My post pointing out that Apple could do to help migrators more was pulled for being 'offtopic & non-technical', but we still have the pearls of wisdom…

Commenting on Apple's policies and decisions is also not allowed.

If you think those things should be removed, report the post.

I also think the idea is a complete waste of time as I have already pointed out. So, I'm not going to waste my time building a User Tip that will server little to no purpose.

You left out Windows NT. Or Windows 2000.

Whaaa? Windows 2000 was the best release of Windows (that is, for the time). ME, Vista, 98, and 8 fully deserve to live in infamy. Windows 98 didn't even have security. You could log in with no password by going to the help then trying to print the help page.

On topic: Yes, Mavericks is the worst Mac OS X except maybe 10.0 Cheetah. The biggest "feature" was "improved memory management", but that just meant that everything required more RAM to run well. It noticeably slowed down my Mac, my friend's Mac, my brother's Mac, my mom's Mac, all fairly new computers. And it removed more features than it added! I downgraded back to ML, as did my mom.
