Mavericks won't allow docunments to print via WiFi network printer

The only problem I've had with Mavericks on my Late 2007 Mac Book Pro laptop is that I can no longer

print to my HP 3180 Photosmart Printer over my Airport Extreme WiFi Network.

When I connect to the printer directly via USB 2 cable, then it prints fine.

But not being able to print over the WiFi network is a big deal. I hope Apple addresses this issue

for the next upgrade (which I hope is soon)

Same here.

I have a Canon MP630 connected with USB to an iMac which shares this printer on my Airport home network. My MacPro cannot print to this printer anymore, but everything was working just fine before I installed Maverick. I've reset the printers I had installed in Printers&Scanners System Preferences, downloaded and installed the latest Maverick drivers from the Canon site to no avail. Plugging the MP630 directly to my MacPro works fine. The error I get when trying to print with it shared via Airport from my iMac is "Job stopped on server - Unable to write uncompressed document data: operation not permitted".

Does anyone know what that could mean?

It also works if I install this printer as a Generic Printer. Canon support claims this is an Apple problem with Bonjour and not Canon's fault.

There are a couple threads on that error from November. It's a known CUPS issue for driver 1.7. Those posts relate it only for Mavericks and when plotting on an earlier version of CUPS. I get the same error wireless to my pixma Canons. Unfortunately setting it for the Generic doesn't work for me. This Mavericks laptop can't print at all.

I'll try ethernet and direct but, obviously, a laptop needs to work wireless. This is my daughter's laptop. Professionally I would NEVER use the latest OS of anything. There's always trouble somewhere for the first six months to a year.

Also, looking at the Printer Defaults in CUPS the variables on the 1.4 version on our Lion workstation are quite different from those listed in 1.7. Where they're the same the values are identical but there are quite a few in 1.4 that aren't in 1.7 and vice versa. I think that's just another indication that it probably is a CUPS issue and not directly a Canon or Apple problem.

Forgot to check what CUPS was saying. Had a look and all the jobs that I sent to the printer are sat in the queue all completed. Which is what it looks like on the QNAP side of things too. No errors at all. All showing completed, but it is as if they have all just disappeared! If anyone has recevied print outs from me, can they post them back to me ;-)

I'm joining the crowd of perplexed HP lasjert printer owners trying to print on an iMac with Maverics on it.

I just installed my HP 1012 printer on the iMac and found by using the HP Laserjet 3055 model/driver I am able to print wirelessly to the 1012...BUT...it spits out copy after copy until I shut the power off and unplug the printer.

I have the HP 1012 printer connected to an Asus RT-AC66U dual band wireless router via a CAT 5 ethernet cable and setup the printer to the IP address needed to communicate (which it does now) but cannot stop the continous print outs. Most likely it has something to do with the driver being used.

When I added the printer on the iMac I chose IP and for Protocol I selected HP Jetdirect - Socket. I added the IP address to the wireless router and it installed very quickly. Still, it would be great if I could find the solution to stop the multiple/continous print outs. Has anyone figured out how to stop multiple print outs using any HP laserjet printer?

Thanks for any tips/help you can provide!

I just started having this today after upgrading to 10.9.2.

Unable to write uncompressed document data: Operation not permitted

I reset the printers, obtained and installed the latest Brother 2204 printer dirvers and still no joy.

Using a G5, 10.5.8, as the printer server. The only thing that works is setting the Brother Driver to Generic Postscript printer option.

What gives here?

I had same exact problem with my HP 3180. Wouldn't print with HP3180 driver, but would print with

the Generic Postscript Driver.

I then went to a friends house who has a "NEW" HP 4630 OfficeJet on his home wi fi.

I was able to print wirelessly using the HP 4630 driver and did not have to use the Generic PS.

This just says that printer companies have no incentive to update their drivers to work with their

older model printers (My 3180 is 7 years old) when Apple decides to come out with a new operating system.

So I wouldn't hold your breath to expect a new driver anytime soon and just be thankful that the

Generic PS works.
