iPad Air has serious display issue

Got iPad Air on Nov.1 and found some serious display issue. As shown below, Area A, B, D seemed to be darker than other areas. This problem was so obvious that the apple store staff replaced it with another new ipad immediately. But the problem remains. Area A and B was less obvious this time but Area C was brighter (backlight is there. this situation happened a lot on cellphone screens like NOKIA ones back in 2006!!!) while Area D was darker.

After checking several samples in the store, I found this was a common issue. A lot of users in China complain about the same problem.

I returned the iPad for now. Hope that Apple could explain why this happens and solve this issue ASAP. I really like this product...

Very disappointed in having to return two iPad Airs for the same display issue. Saw most darkening in C area in your picture. Also, something very surprising was that I noticed back of the iPad was dirty!! Not prestine clean as you would expect from a brand new Apple product that I unboxed personally. Sort of water or liquid marks on the back.Did not even remove the plastic wrapper on the second device I received. Dirt was inside the transparent wrapper around the iPad and I am not talking about the shrink wrap for the outside box. Very strange for an unopened shrink wrapped box.

I'm sorry some ip air owners are having issues. I bought the 16gb wifi for husband in November and the 64gb cellular for me. Now in December they are both performing brilliantly. If anything compared with the ip 4 which i sold the screen seems to be much brighter. I think that might be due to OS 7 not sure. I bought ip air wifi from curry's and cellular from john lewis.

That is because Apple has reduced the number of backlights of you ipad air lcd panel by HALF compare to ipad 4th gen. This is due to Apple's obssession of making thinest & lightest products. I noticed that ipad air screen is also dimmer compare to ipad 4th gen eventhough the brightness setting has been set to max. I own iPad 4th gen i have nothing to complain. The screen is very bright & sharp. I'd prefer having a little bit thicker & havier ipad but getting a much better display perfomance than having the thinest & lightest ipad but getting a lot of compromised

I ordered my ipad Air Wlan 32GB online in Germany and when I got it right after unboxing, I realized the problem but it has become more sever in a month's use. The brighter bar with dark border is there on left side of the screen and it gets really frustrating reading ebooks or using productivity apps. I am taking it to the apple store on Tuesday. Let's see how they resolve the issue. 😟

UPDATE

Today I took my iPad Air to the Apple store and the Genius acknowledged the problem right away and decided to replace my unit. There was only one Wlan 32GB iPad at the store. We unboxed it an there it is! The same problem in the replacement unit. I called the apple care in Germany and the decision was to 1st check another apple store and if the problem is not solved, send the unit to Apple for an evaluation. So Thursday is another round in turmoil of finding an iPad air with a decent display.

I also checked 5 silver and 2 space gray demo units at the store and all had the same issue expect for one space gray ipad. I also checked in another store( Saturn) and the only unit there had the problem. The ipad mini Retinas that I checked did not have any similar problems.

It seems to be an issue with the current available iPads in Germany unless Apple decides to take action and do something serious.

Below you find 2 videos from the same person (one in German and one English) from youtube. He was lucky his problem was solved 😕
