Iphone tethering under OS X Mavericks

I am unable to tether my iphone to my macbook under OSX Mavericks. I use Tether. Has anyone found a solution for this yet?

I was able to connect last week but had no throughput at all or it was so slow as to render it unusable. I wrote Mehul again with a BS response on Tether site. After that I was unable to connect to the Tether proxy server at all. My connection between my Mac and iPhone 6 is fine but still would not connect to the proxy so I decided to roll back my OS to Yosemite from El Capitan and that didn't help at all. As of today ( and I just tried to connect again now) I still cannot connect to proxy server with Safari or Chrome after repeated tries. I have been posting replies on an existing post on their Facebook page and sometimes I get someone to respond but never from Tether. They have not posted there since 2012.

I have been looking into other ways to tether but all seem to require the phone to be Jailbroken which I am not willing to do. Apple screwed us all on this when they bounced the Tether app from their store way back when after it had been approved and was being sold for a day. I had used Tether from its beginning on a BlackBerry with USB connection for years and it worked fine but when my BB died I needed a new phone Tether was refusing to develop for the new BB series 10 so I went iPhone instead.

I don't need Tether every day but when I do need it I really need it especially when traveling.

I just wish they would put a price tag on it and sell it to someone who wants to take care of it correctly. These current owner are so annoying.

So I just found a reply on Tether Support site from Mehul and I am copying here in case it helps someone or there is something that someone can add to the discussion.

"Hello

Go into Settings -> General -> Reset
Reset Network Settings

This should clear anything that may have caused issues.

Try Resetting network settings first, if that doesn't do it, try updating as well."

And I replied, "Hello, Thank you for the reply but your solution is not acceptable. Doing as you suggest erases all of my wifi logins including the passwords used for each. As I use several different wifi networks at times such as when I visit my client dealers, this will require me to get the passwords and enter them again as I do not record them I just enter them and the phone saves them.

Further I believe that if there was a problem with my network settings it would show in other ways as I am using wifi in many different places all the time and never have any problems connecting to any of them.

And whey you say "try updating as well" What do you mean? Updating what? My ios is up to date and I keep my apps all updated always.

The browser works fine and has never failed to show a page and it shows the Tether page fine now on both Chrome and Safari but neither will connect to the Tether proxy and frankly I don't see how my network settings would interfere with connection through an online website like the Tether Proxy."

Anyone have any ideas on this? I did also try to connect using my older Macbook with Lion and am still having the same issue. Computer connects to iPhone through adhoc with no problem but browser can't connect to the Tether Proxy server from either.

And of course now I have had to go through restoring my phone from a backup and reactivating the cards in my Apple Pay as well AGAIN. The problem is obviously on Tether's end and they just won't admit it. We need to get more people to start posting things online about them especially on their Facebook page which is still read but not by them.

OK now I have heard from Mehul at Tether again. And now he is going back to his original suggestions and use of the launcher. This guy is stalling us plain and simple.

Hello
Are you using the launcher?
To use tether on OS X Mavericks and above please download from http://goo.gl/4F1DW2
Then unzip it and run the launcher. Do not change any of the files. The launcher has all of the necessary files including Tether.app.
Further in the Applictions folder, right click (ctrl click) the tether icon and select "get info". In that screen check the box that says "prevent app nap". Do the same for the launcher.

And my response........

Yes I am using the launcher and did just as you instructed plus I added complete removal of old files before installing a new copy of Tether and the launcher. As I keep telling you the link between the computer and the iPhone is fine and all green.
I have done exactly as you suggested repeatedly and you are just stalling. You go read the APPLE site you are linking. I'm not the only one with the same problem and you are not helping anyone but stalling us.
The APPLE link is useless because you just posted the same thing there and it still doesn't work.
