iCloud - can't sign in at this time

I have iCloud working via my Safari browser and my iPhone. But when I try and log-in to iCloud via my iMac's system preference I continually receive the following message, "you can't sign in at this time. try signing in again." It has been manifesting the same behavior for over 1 week. Any ideas? Stumped the Genius Bar. Really could use your help! Thanks.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

I've got this issue too, on El Capitan Macbook Air, but on any account new or old. iCloud is just "broken" across the entire computer. Any ideas besides reinstalling OS X? Thanks!
