Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

What apple should do to clean its reputation an leave all this behind in a genuine effort to bring confidence to the iPad user base...

After suffering consistently from a memory crash illness for almost half a cycle on the recent hardware release of the iPad Air, it is expected that apple work out a recall or a replacement extension program that overlap into the next generation when surely the memory issues will be resolved (2 gig ram) since all this issues are hardware related no matter how much programers optimized iOS code. In doing so apple will give a a fair chance to the consumers for a replacement on an updated or revised hardware that truly address the memory dilemma.

1 gig of ram on a 64 bit platform does not make sense at all and we all are being witness of its issues, and the harm it does to the user experience in its core functionalities.

What makes this hardware a none other than a beta first gen. of a terrible implemented 64 bit platform soon to be discontinued.

... I still have hopes for a Steve touch on this matter ...

That 9to5mac page loads fine in portrait mode, scrolling through down the page is okay as well. Quick orientation change get Safari on its knees, unfortunately. Also, loading page in landscape mode crashes too.

This happened after my iPad Air 128GB had been restored and set up as new.

However, I was unable to take Safari down by having a lot tabs open, erratic tab switching between them, loading multiple pages simultaneously, switching reader mode on/off again on complex pages etc. Nothing has happened. Where Safari would have crashed before iOS 7.1, it simply reloaded the page.

Something might be wrong with that page, and (mobile) Safari is having problems handling that. Perhaps. Who knows.

Hello everybody,

Obviously, I am newcomer here even though I had been lurking around here like many others before I decided to join in.

Here is my story with Safari regularly crashing on my iPad Air (128GB Wifi).

I got fed up with Safari crashes 😟

2) My iPad was restored and set up as new (all of my apps were installed from AppStore, in other words directly from the device itself, not from iTunes by syncing with my iMac)

3) Safari crashes regardless

4) I have contacted local Apple support with the issue, described what I had done prior to the call (device restart, restore as new as with step 2)

5) As they suggested possible hardware issue my iPad was replaced

6) The new iPad was set up as new etc. (the very same steps as with 2)

7) Guess what, Safari crashes

8) I have contacted local Apple support again, this time they suggested the possibility of broken iCloud data. Also, they performed online diagnostics.

9) I was ask to set up my new device as new without installing any apps, providing AppleID and syncing with the iTunes

10) So, over the last weekend I was browsing with 'barebones' Safari without any of my apps installed, passwords synced etc.

11) Guess what, I have experienced numerous crashes and the log has become flooded with the infamous 'low memory entry'

12) I have contacted Apple support again with the results. They made online diagnostics again and as well filled for a support ticked, supposedly to be addressed by 'engineers'. In short, they escalated the problem to higher level/authority.

In three days time, they are going to get in touch again.

I was asked again to try out with the 7.1 and report back. I will report back what I have found :/

My ipad gen 3 with ios6 opens and loads that 9-to5 page landscape, portrait , zoom in and out or whatever just fine. I upgraded to the ipad air and it came with ios7 and it's been downhill a regression for me in most every way except it is lightly than my previous gen ipad. I have 3 ipads in my house and two stayed on ios6 and they are complelely happy with no crashes..

I have someone that will give me $300 cash and i'm going to take it as the idea of browsing the web at home is frustrating as not only will it crash it also at times wipe out your text you type when filling out a post, either if you get out for a minute to look up something and come back and it reloads the page ..poof. just a pain in the *** period.

Bascially if you read the error log it is when the safari reaches a limit on the memory it can use and it does not seem like much, hit that limit and it's poof.

Everyone can argue that it's a poorly designed web page etc but i see Zero logic in that arguement as the previous ipad generation "older" if you will does not have a problem with these so called poorly written web pages. i dont buy it.

Enjoy

Some people here seem to be LOOKING for crashes, as if 9to5 is the only website out there, so you have to pick that one that "crashes" the ipad. I have iphone 3gs, and it crashed on that in LANDSCAPE mode on this site, but after disabling java script, it didn't crash at all. I sent my ipad air back as I wanted a rethink on this situation, as on other forums, (ie not APPLE ones ) there is lots of prasie and recommendation for 7.1 update, including the "refresh" tabs. It probably seems fashionable to trash "apple on apple😟" well i think its very unfair to blame a whole ipad air on a couple of website "crashes"

In the small time I had mine, I tried lots of games on it (real racing 3 etc) and ran smooth as butter. So at the end of the day, if you spend all your time on sites that crash, , that " keep crashing".....it will, then, KEEP CRASHING! I guess Its like looking for a fight, if you know were theres trouble, youll get one!

It happens on alot of web sites, where it really goes bad is if you pinch in to zoom in a bit as my eyes arent as good as they used to be, this is what blows pages up on me, i dont care squat about what site it is but i dont keep track and this 9 to 5 is a easy one to pointout are as a few others its ironic that page is about how great the ipad is lol. Like i said i have ipads that were not upgraded and work great and that is what ill use. I buy a new gen each update as i develop apps on the ipad and i write it off so its not a big deal. Im just miffed a bit as i really liked the light weight of this ipad as my wrists would begin to ache with the previous version as the retina screen really made it heavier than its previous version.
