Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

Quoting Gregmorros411's reply to rbrylawski:

"I checked your website out. I am seriously impressed you are so tech saavy at your age. I am not joking. I am actually giving you a compliment. I just assumed by your frequent posts that you were a millenial like me. I cannot even get my parents to send me an email or text. So I may disagree with you but I do recognize and appreiciate anyone over fifty who keeps up with technology."

Ouch! I'll be 68 next month. I'm a retired CPA. I purchased an Apple II in i979. My other choices then included a Radio Shack TRS-80, a Commodore Pet, an Exidy Sorceror, Northstar Horizon, and a few others. I went with Apple because of the availability of VisiCalc software - which was perfect for use in my accounting practice. I've owned many computers, laptops, tablets and cell phones - including the first iPhone and iPad.

I've had many incidences of "freezing" on my iPad Air, and an occasional springboard crash. My iPhone 5 has had less of these, but still had them. The release of 7.1 has substantially decreased these issues. They're not perfect, but my iProducts are much better now. My laptops are both Windows PCs, and my wife has a Nexus tablet. I may consider an Android phone when my ATT contract is up in September. I'm not a loyal Apple fanboy. I do feel that their quality has slipped a bit. Beginning with antenna gate, increased competition has created a rush to market situation. However, I still feel that overall, Apple does make a premium product.

Will you at least admit that some of us are experiencing issues??? This discussion has over 100,000 views. You could be right it could be my lack of intelligence.

Greg Morris--Pharm. D/MD(The University of Michigan must be going downhill. They gave me two doctoral degrees. I dont know why?? Ugh I am so stupid)

I have never not acknowledged that some people are and have been experiencing crashes with their Air. Never. I understand that for some, the Air experience with Safari crashes has interfered with the use of their devices. And yes, I'm sure you're quite intelligent. It's just immature of you to acuse me of working for Apple, because I have a device that seems to work fine, even better with 7.1.

For me, the only site that ever crashed was the nin.com site (in landscape). It isn't a site I had ever visited before I read on this thread it was an issue. Even before 7.1, the site ran just fine in portrait. And I posted a video long ago that the mac site didn't crash my Air even before 7.1. I don't know why. It just didn't.

Since 7.1 has made Safari crashing for some non-existent and for some others it's better, it indicates Apple is on the right path to continue improving the user experience. There will likely be more updates and it's a good idea for anyone who is experiencing issues to continue to send their log reports to Apple so they know some more work is required to solve this for all.

Peace.......

Ps: Thanks, I think on the compliment that this "old" dude keeps up with technology. I kind of sort of have to. I am afterall a Technology Recruiter for some of the best corporations in America (Apple is not a client though). But my interest in the iPad is simple. I enjoy mine and I joined this forum when I had a question which someone solved and I stuck around to return the favor to others. That's my only reason for being here.

Ha my apologies to my experienced friend. I used to follow Apple blindly. The exact progression of my waning support has followed the exact same timeline. It began with antennagate and has progressed to 5-10 crashes per browsing session. I now own a samsung galaxy note that is fantastic. I was shocked with my satisfation with this product. BTW I have a mac mini, macbook pro, 2 iphones and an ipad air. So I am an Apple fanboy, which has made this issue so disheartening. I am extremely happy with my new galaxy note. You should look into them.

If it makes you feel any better I had a ten year old ask me who steve jobs was. The next generation of Apple users will have no idea who he was. Time marches on for all of us. Heck Apple may not even be a company 20 years from now. People may get fed up with the company sitting on billions of revenue and paying no domestic taxes. Just kidding Exxon Mobil has been doing the same for 50 years and they are still around.

There are lots of tech savy people in that age group. Our generation invented email! 😁 I'm another. I spend a lot of my time teaching people 20-30 years older than I to use technology. My 32-year old nephew call me for help. He can manage email but smartphones are pushing his limits.

Aye. I will join you at age age 68 just a few months after. Here's what it is in my view. Us old farts maybe are just more tolerant. We have seen all the old hardware, worked with it, worked around it, seem its flaws. Compared to the "old days" I marvel at where technology has gone.

I myself have been an early adopter of all things television related, audio/video, laser disks projection TV etc. since the mid Fifties. Got in to computers rather late, 1998.

I don't go around looking for sites to crash my Air. I concede that the Air is just a tablet and not powerful desktop. I did come to this thread starting on page 10 when I noticed my Air was closing to home screen and my iPad3 never did. I came to this site for help and I got it. Some folks may be irritated when someone says they are not having problems, I get that, but everyone has a right to express their view.

Before Apple there was no smart phone or tablet. They were the innovators. Everyone else jumped in when Apple proved the product. Now Apple has intense competition. I looked at the others, but I still come back to Apple. For me it's the entire package.
