Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

Except, it's Android crap, made of plastic, cheap as possible internals, Made by a Company anything they can get their hand on, technologically speaking, copies everything Apple does. If there any beauty in their designs, it's not because of their imagination of any design engineers, it's because of Sir Jony.

Nothing is perfect in this world and to be such annApple fanboy, why change to Samsung rather that wait to get the fix?

I had low memory crashes (early reporter of the issue, but never with Safari on one or two websites when used in LS view mode and never on portrait. I installed 7.1 yesterday, and all problems except the LS Safari problems, which by the way does the same on all browsers (Chrome, Dolphin, Opera, and Bing did the same thing) have all disappeared, which for me was iBooks closing back to the home screen, irrespective of regardless being performed, napping, all 723 books in the library or just the one book I was specifically, or not. Seven point one (7.1) fixed that huge problem for me, so now I am completely happy

A little patience, the knowledge that Apple had moved this issue to a Priority One issue, the complete competence in Apple Engineering and my Senior Tech, helped me stick with Apple (I would have done so anyway) tells me that Apple is Number One for a good reason.

But you would probably be one who would jump ship because of one glitch in the system. If it's 1GB of of RAM on a 64 bit OS, it won't be next time the next round of iPads are introduced like the iPad.

Have fun figuring out thenAndroid crap. It's a wonder to behold!

You have no idea what the problem is and whether Apple has made this issue a priority. You have no idea if a fix is even a fix in the works. Any assumption you make is based on conjecture. Neither of us know the depth, cause or solution to this issue. You have no inside knowledge of this issue, if you did you would not be posting on a discussion board. So you are telling me I should just sit back and wait for a fix. Maybe my iPad crashes more frequently than yours. We must deal in facts. Your supposed relationship with a senior tech has not fixed my iPad. So some guy told you a fix is on the way should no comfort those who have unusable devices

I never mentioned anything re 9to5Mac and was referring to another website. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. I was referring to the NIN website.

<Gregmorris411>

All that I stated was true. Much you either misread or read what you wanted to read. However, I never said anything about my Sr. Tech. or the Engineer working on the problem. As to the Engineer and Sr. Tech., they were very pleasant, patient and great to work with. I was specifically assigned for those two persons to work with me sine it was very early on in the game. And, their assignment, their stating that it was moved to what was called a Priority One came from one of Tim cook's Executive CS Team (and the actual term used was probably different, but close enough to get the point across that Mr. Cook had his higher-up people look at the situation. I wrote Mr. Cook personally about my frustrations and I have to assume he thought it important enough to assign it to two persons he could give a problem to to get it worked through.

If this bothers you, I can't help it and apologize if I offended you. But, in the future, check out your facts, before attaching blame. But also remember was never with w website, but started with iBooks. It was later I started noticing websites closing down for no particular reason.

Finally, we are on this website on 9to5Mac or MDN and others. First Amendment rights go so far, but rudeness was never a part of our Founding Fathers' MO. In other words, lighten up and enjoy life.

If you think I was rude to you I apologize. I find it outlandish that you think Tim Cook read your letter and personally assigned someone to your case. You stated you assume this is the case. The probability that the CEO of one of the biggest companies in the world personally put someone on your case is like winning the lottery. It is just not plausible.

So, been following this thread since the beginning. Why? Yes, low memory crashes, Safari was failing on me one or two times per week. First Ipad and thought that for $500 wasn't normal, it was a big bummer for me thinking about the almighty Apple. Despite everything I thought that I was an exception, a lucky one, cause, according to this thread reading about "real" problems my ipad was a tough one, don't had almost any problem with it like others, besides the safari app (think iTunes crash one time in LS). As some of you mention here, I contacted the apple support and went thought all the trouble-shooting with no solution. In almost 3 months having the air learned ways to mitigate the problem like some of you, until an occasional crash was "normal".

Since IOS 7.1 came out this "occasional" crash disappear, now I can have 7 tabs open in safari with no problems (yes, some times they re-load) having 10 apps running in the background. Really don't know what Apple did but they definitely change something, for me now the air is 100% functional with its limitations, (Hope I'm not talking to early, noc on wood).

So, for me the conclusion is... It would have been perfect they put 2 gigs of ram in it, but that's the reason of all this?, don't think so (mine work fine and it is part of it), software stabilization, offcourse, hardware issues (in some) possible...

Really hope the best for those how are still having problems, I know the feeling (as a general consumer, not just with the ipad).

Peace and good luck folks! The force be with you.

"First Amendment rights go so far, but rudeness was never a part of our Founding Fathers' MO."

Actually the founding fathers wanted most if not all forms of speech protected. They even went as far as indicating hate speech let alone simple rudeness be protected. Again we must deal in facts. It is inconsistent with history that you make such false declarations.

However I DO APOLOGIZE if you felt i was being rude but attributing any perceived rude comments made by me as an about face to freedom of speech is by its definition false

iPad3 with iOS 7.1

+++

- No more crashes at Safari. Knock to wood

- Animations feels faster now, when Reduce motion is OFF. Not always :/

- - -

- Multitasking view is even slower(!) than 7.0.x when Reduce motion is ON. There are 1-2 seconds delays when I change app.

- Changing wallpaper is still unbelieve slow.

- History of Safari does not recognize all pages immediately I have visited. Same issue is on my iPhone5 too. I think this worked on iOS 5/6.

- Reload button does not allways work on Safari. It shows only blank page.

- Closing tabs is so difficult on Safari. It was so on iOS 5/6 too. Why not iPhone style?

- Still yellow numbers on white on Notes? Who's stupid idea? On iPhone too.

I have postponed buying an ipad air to replace my ipad3 (that has had nothing but trouble since updating to ios7). Apple will probably bring a new one out in October this year, and I can wait and see if they upgrade the ram to at least 2gb. I don't want to have a repeat of planned obsolescence that I got with my ipad1, due to lack of ram memory, it's stuck at ios5. Is ram that expensive, that Apple keeps shortchanging ipads?

I actually picked up a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, but I didn't like it and returned it. Apple still has a better os.

Time for me to comment again. Been waiting for 7.1 and avoiding the inane babble here over the last few weeks. So far, my experience has been almost entirely positive. Safari is much snappier and the whole thing feels a lot more solid. I can load the 9to5 site no problem. I can load the nin site no problem once I do as recently suggested - go to settings and turn off JavaScript.

I have noticed one problem not seen earlier. Web links launched from Mail seem prone to crash. The 9to5 did that, including the one about battery life above (not btw a problem with me). But when I go to safari after the crash, they have loaded just fine. Looks like Mail is not getting out of the way.

Almost ready to recommend 7 to the wife for our ipad4, but not quite yet. I've become more cautious after the recent slug of software disappointments that have seemed indicative of lack of quality assurance and flawed integration with hardware.

A big step forward. Still love my Air.
