Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

I hate to say it, but I too will likely be returning my iPad Air. I have never had so many crashes and have owned every iPad to date. I find it unbelievable that a device touted as being 64bit only has 1g of ram. Apple should make this right and start churning them out with at least 2gb ram. The only way we can be heard is by returning our devices. They will likely get this right with the next update, just sad we all have to wait till then.

Have been using it for a few hours on cellular tmobile only and so far a different experience. Safari is set to first party cookies only and still no crash. Been heavily coding on wordpress, no refreshes also..

Did not try on chrome yet...

Maybe its a wifi issue... I have verizon fios 25/150...

Hopefully its just an update because i do nog want to return my brand new ipad air for a refurbished one.

Nope, it's not just a wi-fi issue. I have had the crashes occur on both wi-fi and cellular, consistently on three different devices (iPhone 5, iPad 2, and iPad Air) ever since iOS 7. Also has occurred on several different wi-fi networks, and on LTE, 4G, and 3G. On occasion, I have gone several hours of fairly heavy Safari use between crashes, only to have the frequent crashes return. So, I hope the issue is resolved for you, but I would not bank on it. Because this problem occurs for me on three different devices now, I am certain it is not an iPad Air issue but an iOS 7 issue. (It may well be that the iPad Air's RAM is not up to snuff, but that seems to me a different and separate issue.)

I have never had an iPad but the GF has had a 32GB iPad 2 (m/n A1395, 512mb RAM) for over 2 years, no problems. She just upgraded to IOS 7.0.4 on the pad and her iPhone 4 and seemingly no problems on either. I just tried to crash it by opening one of the pages suggested here that will crash the iPad Air consistently,

http://9to5mac.com/2013/11/08/a-week-with-the-ipad-air-in-three-words-believe-th e-hype/

It opened, no problem but took a second to catch up while scrolling.

This past summer she gave me the cash to get an iPad and I told her I was going to wait for the new ones tto show. So last week I got a 32GB iPad Air on sale from Target but before I opened it I found this thread. I have until Feb 24 to return it as long as it's not opened so it sits on a shelf until this get's figured out.

Then I read the best thing to do is find an iPad 4 with the A6 chip and older IOS 6 installed and avoid the problem. Found a 32GB at Walmart for $449 with free shipping and Bluetooth speakers. That one is on it's way as we speak and I have until Feb. to return it unopened also. It too will sit.

So they'll both stay on the shelf, unopened until someone at Apple comes clean as to what the problem actually is. If an IOS7 upgrade solves the problem before Feb. I'll keep the Air. If it's a hardware issue and they need to add more RAM I may return both and wait for the new model to show.

If they are in denial I'll use the iPad 4.

Or I may just go another route.

You're going to be waiting a long time. I can understand your logic but ultimately it will back fire when you want to install new apps that require ios 7. The air is the best tablet in my opinion despite its flaws, that being said it's hardware is better equipped to handle iOS 7. IOS7.1 should be coming out in the new year if not sooner. One day that iPad 4 will need to be updated to iOS7 and it feels like a brick compared to the Air. Unless your goal is to keep iOS 6 as long as you possibly can and run the oldest version of apps for ios6 if you can even install them, like it says below. JUMP.

P.S. Safari always crashes. Even on my iPad 3 with iOS 6 it would violently crash from time to time. Not as frequently as Safari on iOS 7 but no Safari is crash proof. It needs an air bag my friend.

... guess upgrading to 2 gig of ram wasn't a bad idea after all or maybe a DDRx speed step up,

i mean, since we are now on a 64 bit architecture hardware !

... mmmh leave it all to software optimization you say ...

i expect to buy a completed product not a beta that would solve all it's problems half way to the next cycle ! You are losing customer trust.

I'm NOT SATISFIED HERE !
