Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

I was playing to Dung. and Drag. 4, after a while, i double pushed the home button to access the multitasking and the black screen of death appeared: black screen with apple logo, and after about 4 second everything went right. I noticed that i had a lot of apps opened in backgorund. This is the second time in 1 week. The first time i was simply reading a review on the app store. Tomorrow i will go to an Apple store for a check, just to be sure that (as emerged from this discussion and as i think) it is not an hardware problem. 😟 In any case I am very disappointed 😟

My new IPad Air crashed consistently when opening ITunes in landscape mode...

Returned to the Apple store today to show them the low memory data in diagnostics & usage data.

Apple tech re-installed firmware 7.0.4 and I re-installed all the apps; opening and closing ITunes x20 times and no crashes!

it appears, for now, that it's been fixed..!

The particular page Yellowtail linked to has crashed on me before when I was not scrolling at all. (One day it crashed on me three times in quick succession when it was just trying to reload the page--I wasn't even trying to re-open the page. I just happened to have that tab open in Safari, and Safari decided to refresh itself.)

But, in any event, I disagree with "of course it will crash if you scroll down fast"--scrolling down fast should NOT make a tablet's browser crash. It's designed so you can scroll down fast. I am frequently trying to scroll down a page fast because it's a long page and what I'm looking for on it may be at the bottom. Or I may have reached the bottom and need to scroll up fast to a link, etc. Scrolling up and down is "normal," and it certainly should work on a brand new, top-of-the-line piece of hardware designed for surfing the Internet.

I agree what you say, it should not crash if you scroll down fast, but we know that it does. The point I was making is if you read the page normally, it does not crash, at least for me. I just tried it again and I made it crash when I scrolled down fast. It did not crash when I let it load and scrolled down slightly faster then reading speed.

I'm not excusing the widespread unexpectant crashes by the Air.

General Comment

As an experiment, it would be interesting to see what people on this thread experience.

Try loading this link. Let it load first, until the little wheel on the site (not the browser) stops and you see the banner. Scroll down as fast as you like. This page takes my Air 15 seconds to fully load on a fast wifi connection. Lots of imbedded hi res photos, a scrolling banner, a scrolling marquee and animation with a lot of content.

I can scroll as fast as I want and it will not crash on my Air. I would be interested to know what others experience after performing this test.
