Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

The Apple senior advisor I've been working with on this (he is talking to the engineers) asked me to post asking people to report this to Apple through AppleCare. If your device is less than a year old, you are covered even without AppleCare.

He said to be film and let them know you are reporting the issue, have worked on it, and if necessary ask to speak to a senior advisor. He's trying to get the word out not to hassle people with fixes or replacements. Knowing what web sites crash would be helpful. There is now some evidence the issue is related to some CSS coding. Thanks, Mitch! But it's still Apples problem.

He's read some of these threads and gets it.

I can make mine crash at will also. One would assume that the design engineers decided that additional RAM wasn't necessary - even though it would have cost very little. Hopefully a firmware update can fix the memory management issue - if that's the cause. My concern is that there aren't many of us responding to this post, and I've seen nothing in the news about this. Apple won't act unless there are a huge number of complaints and publicity about this.

Add me into the people experiencing crashes with the new ipad air, I get one or two a day, usually have about 8 tabs open at a time, looking at the diagnostics I get the same low memory crash each time, my old ipad never experienced this on ios 6 with the same memory, so it's something that needs fixing in ios 7.

I will try and report today to AppleCare the more people that do that by the looks of things the more focus there will be.

I would suggest if the first person tries to run you through Somers fixes, ask to speak to a senior advisor, tell your story, and ask him to read the forums. Tell him you are reporting the issue as requested by other Apple senior advisors.

If iOS 7.1 is in the works,me need to move fast to get this in it.

I'm still surprised the competition or media has not picks this up.

I'm "glad" that finally I find my problem is not a singleon. I bought my iPad Air on 1st Nov in Hong Kong. It crashes frequently since then, almost everyday, with a white screen and black Apple logo in the center and then switches off in a few seconds, and the resumes working.

I tired to google "iPad Air problem" the last few days and didn't find anything similar to my problem. After reading this post I checked Settings > General > About > Diagnostics & Usage > Diagnostic & Usage Data and found many LatestCrash-xxx.plist and LowMemeory-xxx.plist.

It is a great device and hope Apple will solve it by iOS7.1!

I wonder why those Apple centric sites and blogs do not report this too.

I'm having the same issues with my iPad Air after I updated this to iOS 7.0.4 It doesn't matter if I'm watching a video, using my email, playing games, surfing the web, etc. it crashes constantly and the Apple logo shows up. I finally contacted Apple Care tech support and they told me that I'm experiencing a hardware failure so I have to exchange the hardly used iPad Air and get a new one. So I got a brand new iPad Air yesterday, 11/18/13 and after I backed up everything using iCloud and updated the iOS to 7.0.4 it happened again. It was crashing non-stop. I checked the diagnostics messages and they all say low memory. I have 64GB! I don't even have that much apps. I hardly have anything running in the background. I enabled the "send feedback." I reported the issue online in Apple Care tech support and they gave me a reference number and a phone number to call. I'll contact them again tonight. I'm tempted to just do a reset and do a back-up and not update my iOS. I wonder if this will fix the problem. I updated all my other iPads 2 and 3 and they are not experiencing the same issues.

Same thing here, and it just seems to get worse with ios 7.1b1. Doing the same thing (downloading a 100mb PDF file) on Safari, iPad air crashed, but iPad 3 works like a charm.

Just a thought, as the A7 is 64 bit; does it mean that all 32bit app will be emulated as 64bit application, thus all instructions will be twice as large and eating system memory?

I bought and returned the Air after selling and buying / upgrading from 16GB 4th Gen to a 128GB 4th Gen. While I had the Air for 2 weeks I experienced the same crashing a few times a day in Safari.. it always just seemed like a matter of time. I returned it for that reason (and because I got a great deal on a 128gb 4th Gen) and decided to look into the matter on my 4th Gen as well. After finding this thread and using the Twitter crash example suggested in this thread I can confirm this happens also on the 4th Gen with iOS7.0.4. A low memory report is generated at time of crash, and is 100% repeatable. I will say, having owned a 16GB 4th Gen for almost a year and hardly experiencing a crash. It's unfortunately timing for the Air indeed as it is plagued with 7.0.4 it left a bad taste in my mouth about the 1GB ram limitation of which I now have decided to wait for the Air2 with 2GB+ of ram before I move away from the 4th Gen.
