Update Unavailable with This Apple ID ??????

This update is for an app downloaded with a different Apple ID. Sign in with that Apple ID and try again.

I have one and only one Apple ID - the one I have used for each and every purchase since the advent of Apple ID. Why can I not update Pages?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9), 1TB HD, 8GB Ram

I have versions iPhoto 9.4.3 and iMovie 9.0.9.

Someone else's solution was to uninstall the app and purchase again from the app store. It's certainly not expensive and if that is the best solution I'll take it, but maybe I'm being the archetypal mean Scotsman by thinking I shouldn't have to pay for an update to something that came with the computer if the problem is not of my making.

powerbook 1701 mentions seeing an App store update 1.0 maybe I "can't see for looking" but I can't find that. Anyway as I upgraded to Mavericks less than 24 hours ago and have done a software update surely everything - except these two apps!!- is up to date.

The issue is that these apps aren't part of your Mac App Store (MAS) account for one of two reasons, your Mac shipped with OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 and these are not MAS versions of these apps because they came on the install DVD and can't be updated by the MAS. In which case the upgrade to the Mavericks versions would be a paid upgrade. Or your Mac came withOS X Lion 10.7 or newer and these are MAS versions, but you made the mistake of not accepting them into your MAS account when you first set up the Mac as new.

You might be able to delete these copies from your Mac, use OS X Recovery to install new copies, accept them into your MAS account and then get the free upgrade to the Mavericks versions.
