iPad Air Freezing

I have a new iPad Air which I got on the 1st. In the past two days it has frozen and required a hard reboot. Anyone else having a similiar experience?

Earlier in this thread I chimmed in re same issues as many here - repeated freezing, and for me, since I added the belkin BT keyboard.

Despite closing apps, updating, powering down, syncing, etc, it was constant for a few days.

Here's my question:

It hasn't been freezing at all over the last 2 weeks. Suddenly the problem stopped while my use of the keyboard has been constant. It froze 2 days ago, but after rebooting, no problem. It was solar flare day here, and I was in a place with sketchy connectivity, so I attributed it those factors (you can tell I'm not a techie...just making up my own diagnosis...)

Is it possible that a device or software works out its own kinks? Not wanting to invite magical thinking here, but I haven't seen any updates come through related to the ipad (other than apps) or the device, and I can't figure out why the problem was so intense at first and now gone.

thanks all

I have a Targus Keyboard Case with Bluetooth keyboard. It is freezing my iPad 4. It didn't do this when I first bought the iPad 4 last year. Approximately 4 months ago it began and this is very frustrating when using my iPad for meetings and presentations. I see all the comments but has Apple corrected this issue yet? It appears this is a Apple issue as it it's occurring with different brands of Bluetooth keyboards.

There seems to a lot of folks experiencing freezing issues associated with blue tooth, however I have had mine for just 3 weeks and it totally wouldn't start even though I had nothing attached. Was was really maddening is that I was counting on it for a very critical piano solo concert to turn music pages for me. To my horror it wouldn't start 20 minutes before the concert! Had to scramble to try and find my printed music and still affected the concert which was a major deal (major box office event). How can I ever trust it again. I had it fully recharged and thought I had my bases covered.

I've got the same iPad configuration and the same woes. Nothing has helped. Even a replacement by Apple. Did get to a higher level. My iPad2 with iOS7 did not crash in Safari, or occasionaly spontaneoulsy re-boot.

One theory from Apple consultant was I had too many tabs open, too many bookmarks, and too many items in my Reading list. I don't know if I actually got relief or not, because I eventually resotred those items because I didn't want to compromise on what I needed the iPad to do.

I'm not getting issues on my iPhone 5S BTW. But then again I don't use it for long periods.

I'm having the same problem too. Apple support couldn't help with this issue, but I found out a clue that bluethoot and iOS 7.0.4 could have something to do with this. As many of us, I have a Belkin ultimate keyboard case so I take contact to Belkin. They told me that they know about problem, but it is not unique to Belkin keyboard.

Yesterday I found out same question and answer from Belkin support page:

3. Why is my iPad® freezing while using the Bluetooth keyboard?

If you have purchased a QODE Keyboard and upgraded your iPad® to iOS 7 you may experience issues with your iPad freezing. While the issue is rare, it is not unique to Belkin Keyboards and can occur with all Bluetooth keyboards when syncing with the iPad. This is due to a functionality change in iOS 7 that was not present in iOS 6.

Maybe we should wait new update to iOS7...

Happens with Apple's wireless keyboard too. I still have five days left of my return period. I want to keep the iPad and wait for a software update, but there's no guarantee it'll get fixed. I bought an iPad because my Windows 8 netbook was frustrating to use. I'm not sure which is worse at this point...

On another note, my iPhone 5C also experiences application crashes from time to time, except on there it's the settings app that crashes sometimes.

So I use my iPad with keyboard for 3-4 hours a day at least. At first I had Logitech's keyboard folio case, used it a couple weeks and never had my Air freeze up. Then switched to the Belkin Ultimate keyboard case and it started to hang up multiple times a day. Apple ran diagnostics on it and the iPad itself was fine. So one day after it started typing a string of odd letters by itself, I exchanged the Belkin case for the Logitech fabricskin folio and my Air has yet to freeze again after a few weeks of use. The problem with the Belkin always happened during the connection stages of the keyboard to the iPad etc like everyone else has stated. I still think the Belkin keyboard is more prone to this and I would not recommend anyone buy it or you'll be stuck with an annoying paper weight.

I'm glad to hear that this switch has fixed the issue for you. My iPad Air freezes and/or quits Safari several times a day using or not using the Logitech Fabricskin keyboard case. So for me using the keyboard case, or not using it makes no difference. As I've reported elsewhere nothing Apple has assisted me with so far has fixed the problem. Fixes did include burning my original iPad Air, and a replacement to the ground and starting with a fresh install. I did not restore apps. I downloaded them fresh. As an added bonus I went over my Mediacom cap.
