Goofy window that keeps poping up...

I have an Intel iMac that I just updated to Mavericks and I'm getting this window:

whenever I open the Notification Center with a message open to Google. What I have to do in order to get this window is open the Notification Center, click on the Messages button at the top of the window (which opens a new message), and then close the Notification Center and reopen it with the message still open. Entering my Google password makes no difference. It's very consistent, and quite annoying.

I have been trying everything I've seen suggested including changing my password, reinstalling OS X, and probably a few others I'm forgetting. If there's anything you folks can do to help me that would be great!

Do you have Google Drive installed? If so uninstall using either a Google provided uninstaller or instructions from Google.

I don't have a Google drive installed. The only things I have connected to my iMac are a Lacie hard drive and DVD recorder.

Is that the Messages app? I've never used it, so nothing should be changed in the preferences.

I'm having the same issue. The pop-up window is persistent on start up and logging back in. The account address it is asking me for is also no longer associated with my Apple ID, rather a previous email address that I changed some months ago.

Try starting in Safe Mode and see if the problem still occurs?

Restart holding the "shift" key.

(Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)

If this works look in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items and delete any third party login items.

Also look in /Library/Startup Items. Nothing is put in that folder by default, so anything in there is yours. Then log out and back in or restart and test.

I restarted into Safe Mode and it made no difference. So I guess my login items are OK. I looked in /Library/StartupItems and there was nothing in there.

Yes that is the Messages app that I was referring to. The dialog that you pictured in the first post mentioned it too. So there is nothing under the Accounts area of Messages?

How about System Preferences and iCloud accounts?

As I said, I've never used the app Messages, so there shouldn't be anything under accounts.

When I go to System Preferences and click on iCloud I can see that I have Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, and Safari checked. If I click on Internet Accounts on the left column there's iCloud, Google, and Facebook. If I then click on each item, for iCloud I get the same list I had in the iCloud pref. For Google I have Mail, Contacts, Calandars, Messages, and Notes. For the Facebook I have Contacts and Calandars. Now I don't know if this has anything to do with my problem, but in the Google area both Mail and Notes are unchecked. If I try to check them I get a window that says, "There was a problem setting up the account. An unknown error occurred."

Ok, under the System Preferences---> Internet Accounts---> Google---> "Messages" as being checked, means that your set up to use Google in Messages.

So I bet you that if you go to the Messages app under Preferences---> Accounts you'll see Google there.

Delete Google from Messages and uncheck it in Internet Accounts.
