Goofy window that keeps poping up...

I have an Intel iMac that I just updated to Mavericks and I'm getting this window:

User uploaded file

whenever I open the Notification Center with a message open to Google. What I have to do in order to get this window is open the Notification Center, click on the Messages button at the top of the window (which opens a new message), and then close the Notification Center and reopen it with the message still open. Entering my Google password makes no difference. It's very consistent, and quite annoying.

I have been trying everything I've seen suggested including changing my password, reinstalling OS X, and probably a few others I'm forgetting. If there's anything you folks can do to help me that would be great!

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

As I said, I've never used the Messages app. If I uncheck Messages under Google in the prefs, then the messages button disappears from the Notification Center. Then, obviously, I don't get that window popping up. But that isn't a solution in my mind. There's got to be a way that I can keep the Google messages enabled and stop that stupid window from popping up.

It doesn't matter if you used the Messages App or not. With Messages being checked under Internet Accounts---> Google---> Messages. Then the computer was trying to sign you into the Messages App.

With that said, if you go to Messages as I Said before. You will find Google in the Accounts area. Specially since you had Messages checked in the Internet Accounts pane.

How do you figure that you can use the Google Messages with out using the Messages App?

You are obviously signed in, or attempting to sign into the Messages app. Which is evident by the first picture in the first post. That dialog, as I stated before, is from the Messages App.

My next suggestion is to remove all of Google from your Mac and start fresh with it. So remove Google from Messages App, Internet Accounts and where else it may lay.

This is a screen shot of Google being active or what not on my Mac. I did this last night to see how it looks, I don't use Google for my messages or what not.

I know you had some concerns with not being able to check on the Mail, Notes and something else. Even though it's not in the picture. I was able to check on all of them successfully. Since you are having problems, it maybe the fact that it doesn't like your password. Either it's wrong, or there's a character that it doesn't recognize.

If it continues to give you problems after adding Google back to the Mac. Perhaps changing your password could help. Do this directly on Google's web site.

Thanks for the screen shot! Here's one of my Internet Accounts:

Our Google windows look the same except for the titles being different, and the items checked. I don't know what the app on the right is. Spotlight didn't give me any results. Do I need Gmail and Google Talk accounts?

I've already changed my password.

Since I'm having troubles checking the Mail in prefs->Internet Accounts->Google I went into Mail and tried to check my password, but I couldn't find it.

Nov 7, 2013 10:44 AM in response to Dale Sorel

Gmail and Google Talk are the same account from Google.

Honestly, I have no idea how or why you are able to check mark Contacts, Calendars and Messages with out being able to check mark Mail and Notes. As they all fall under the same Google account. Thus the password shall be the same for all of them.

As far as I know, when you sign up for Google/iCloud/Yahoo/ and whatever other company. You are signing up for their services.

With mine having Mail and Messages checked. I am able to see my Gmail in the Mac Mail app and use GoogleTalk in the Mac Messages App. If I were check mark Notes and Calendar. Then I would be able to make notes in the Notes app and make events in the Calendar App on the Mac.

Even though these are all different apps... Mail app, Contact app, Calendar app, Messages app and Notes app. Mac just makes it easy for you as the end user to sign into one spot. (Another reason to love Mac, Windows as far as I know doesn't allow a single place to sign in for all of these apps.)
