I am also having this issue with my wife's iphone. She on the other hand switched to a Windows Phone and now all these iSheep are sending imessages to her and she never gets them... How long has it been since you changed phones has it been the 45 days? Has this been fixed now that some time has passed? It makes me even more determined to leave my iphone to know how considerate apple is toward people that desert their operating system.

Apple phone support told me that they regretted to admit this, but the problem isn’t my Android, it's their iPhones. They confirmed that my reactivated (Android) phone number is no longer on their iMessage servers (which is good), but my wife's iPhone still thinks my number is linked to iMessages because her phone fails to pull updated updated Contact info from iMessages servers.

On her iPhone they said to 1) update to iOS 7.1, 2) delete my contact and all my iMessages threads, and 3) try sending me a text again. It worked after I did this, but then the problem resurfaced. All my devices do not have Messages enabled. What a PITA and I don't know what to do. Going back to my iPhone is not an option, just out of principle that Apple can’t get their stuff together. How convenient that they keep you trapped in their ecosystem and don’t let you leave by essentially stealing your phone number and locking in the iMessage server vault. Jeez, and people thing that Google can be E V I L - this takes the cake.

If the iOS 7.1.1 update does not fix this issue then another alternative is to create a google voice account, configure your account so that all calls and texts are fowarded to your regualr phone number and then notify your iPhone friends to use your new google voice phone number. Just to pre-empt any questions, your google voice phone number does not replace your old phone number - your old phone number will still exist.

Whenever anyone calls or texts you using your Google voice number the call/text will be redirected to your old phone number. After setting up your Google voice phone number be sure to adjust your Google voice settings (I'm referring to the settings on the google voice desktop website) because the default setting is to send a copy of all texts to your Gmail account and you more than likely don't want that. Not sure if downloading the google voice app to your phone is required or not but I did it just to be safe. Hope this helps!

I switched to Samsung Galaxy after I broke my IPhone(,suggested by saleman)-and yes they know about the problem than you can't get text if you switch to android. They didn't bother to tell me this as they promoted the Samsung. This was 3 weeks ago. I have done everything Verizon and Apple has suggested. Nothing works. They did suggest I have all my 300 contacts delete me and add me as just mobile. WOW so disappointed. I will try your suggestion

I had a user move from an iPhone to an Android device and my iPhone continued to attempt to send the user iMessages. The user that switched to the Android device had other Apple devices (iPad, iPod, MacBook etc..). All the user devices including the iPhone were tied to the same iTunes/iCloud user name and password. When we changed the iTunes/iCloud password and updated all the devices using a WIFI or cellular network I no longer had the iMessaging issue with this user.

Here's another wrinkle in this issue. My son just got a Samsung Note with a new phone number and apparently whoever had the number before him must have had an iphone with the number was activated through apple. I couldn't text him, everything was going imessage. I finally found the instructions for deactivating it for imessage and they had to go in and deactivate the number even though they had never even had an iphone. So beware if you get a new number as well. It is definitely a pain to have to do when you have never even owned an iphone. Something to think about APPLE!
