Apple mail does not sync with gMail

Today my Apple Mail no longer provides me with my gMail in the inbox.

I can send mail to my gMail address and it shows in the Sent box ...but it never makes it to my Inbox.

If I log directly into Google Mail the email message is there.

This has always worked before.

Also, just now I downloaded and installed the Apple update for Mail ...which said it fixes some gMail account issues ..but I still have the problem.

I continue to have problems with Gmail not syncing with Apple Mail 7.0 after the Apple update. I am still running OS X 10.8 on my iMac until these issues are worked out. On that machine, Mail 6.6 works great with Gmail. Under Mavericks, Mail 7.0 will not sync, and will not display all the system labels that are set to show in IMAP.

I would appreciate any help in getting these issues resolved.

Thanks -

Unfortunately, I don't have a solution, this is just a "me too". I am continuing to have problems as well. The syncing seems to come and go.

Yesterday afternoon I had no new email showing on my Mavericks machine. Then I opened a Macbook Air I have running Snow Leopard and was surprised to see a page full of email that had come in.

I went to using the web Gmail on the Mavericks machine meanwhile. And now it's mysteriously working again. Obviously they don't have the bug corrected yet. I'm just trying to figure why it comes and goes.

Hi guys

I'm stuck here having exactly the same problem. The funny thing is, it all started since that Mail for Mavericks update, 1.0 which I installed yesterday, which irronically stated it should solve some instability problems (that I was not experincing at all) and made things go completely wrong. I tried to delete and add the account again, and it is not making things better. The weird thing is that I can see the content of some folders, such as deleted items, and inconsistent as it is, it might not display it anymore after I try to go back to this folder. For example, I thought I solved the problem this afternoon, after I had deleted the account and added it for the third time, and let my computer sit there for a while and sync. When I returned to my Mac after an hour, I was under the impression that it synced my inbox correctly, but then when I clicked on another folder to see what's inside and got back to inbox afterwards, it was completely empty again. Mail is just very unstable and the problems are increddibly inconsistent. I think I am now going to try to add the account manually. I will let you know what happens.

All right, I do not think there is much we can do. I'm under the impression Apple basically ruined Apple Mail by releasing this update. Even adding the account manually does not work. It syncs in the beginning, but as soon as I browse though different folders, everything is empty out of a sudden.

I've just installed Mozilla Thunderbird, and it syncs absolutely perfectly. Unless someone has a brilliant idea or Apple comes to solve this, I think I (we) will be forced to use this (or another) client for a while...

I spoke with a Mail Specialist at AppleCare today, and he went thru the process with me of reinstalling Mail 7.0. In the past, you could just delete the Mail preferences file, but that file no longer exists. Now you rename the Mail folder under the System Library, and open Mail and it will rebuild itself. I have reinstalled Gmail and it is now loading in all the emails. I am hoping this will work.
