Why won't my Notes sync from iPad to iMac?

Since upgrading to Maverick my Notes no longer sync from iPad to iMac? Am I doing something wrong? or perhaps not doing something I should?

iPad mini Wi-Fi, iOS 7.0.3

You can sync with the Notes app using IMAP or iCloud. Syncing Notes using iTunes is no longer supported on OS X v10.8 and later. She here for more information.

My problem was that I had NOTES generated before I began using iCloud, so they were associated with a different email address that was set-up as a POP3 account and was not tied to my apple ID. As soon as I created a new IMAP email account on both devices for that same email address the NOTES sync'd immediately.

You can see the email account that the NOTES are associated with by tapping on the ACCOUNTS button in the upper left of the NOTES screen.

I haven't seen this answer but it's the one that worked perfectly for me. Your phone or ipad probably has several accounts associated with notes and those are not the same accounts on your Mac. To check this, open the notes app on your phone. You'll see accounts in the top left corner. Click on that. You'll likely have "from my mac," "icloud" and then a few others listed --- mine included the accounts I had set up with my email. The default account for notes was my gmail account (even though I've never used notes in gmail and didn't realize that was an option). So there are two fixes to this. First, you could change your default account on your phone or ipad settings to the iCloud account or you can add your gmail account (or whatever email was set as default on the device you want synced) to your Mac. To add the account on your Mac, open the Notes app on your Mac. Click "Notes" on the menu bar and choose "add accounts"

I added the account my phone had been using so all my old notes were visible on my Mac too. I then switched my default on the phone to iCloud to make sure all future notes sync up nicely. Good luck!

I had a similar problem which turned out to be because I was using public wifi access - which typically has a number of features disabled, including UPNp, NAT-PMP and SSL...once I connected to a secure private network everything synched within minutes. I don't know which of these features were the issue, but it might be worth apple including a comment on this issue in their help notes.
