Actually, I think I figured it out... In Mavericks, I went to 'System Prefrences -> iCloud' and the "Notes" box was ticked. I unticked it and re-ticked it. That worked for me. HOWEVER, make sure you save the notes you've added locally, because they could potentially get deleted (it says so when you 'untick' the box.)

Your Notes could be in different accounts. I found this out as I began using Notes on my iPhone and wondered why they weren't syncing to my Mac. I discovered that I had entered Notes in two different email accounts on my iPhone . I had to add those accounts on my Mac. Once you've added accounts on the Mac, they show up on the left nav window in Notes. You can click and drag the Notes to one account if preferred.

I have Yosemite so this is new compared to the article. Go into System Pref>iCloud>unstick Notes and then tick notes. I did the same on my new iPhone 6+.

I synced my new ipad pro, iphone and imac to one icloud but my notes wont sync on my imac OSX Yosemite, I tried everything but it won't sync. i am so helpless with my unsync note since i take my ipad to clients for note taking and not having it on my imac is a bummer 😟

I also have this issue. (Mac OS 10.10.5, iPhone iOS 10.2.1 )

Notes sync fine between ipad and iphone, but NOT to Mac.
