Mustek SE A3 1200 scanner no longer seems to work with Mac pro

Hi,

I have a Mustek SE A3 usb 1200 pro scanner and it just recently stoped working [I think it is since I updated to Mavericks.] I tried looking for a new driver but there is only one for mac for my scanner.

The problem is when I open Image Acquire and try to start scanning, it will start scanning and either freeze or crash and give me a "this programe quit unexspectidly" message. I'm not really sure what the problem is, howeever the fact that it started to sudenly and recently makes me suspicious of Mavericks, however it could be something else.

I would appriciate any thoughts, ideas, suggestions,

Thanks,

-Adrienne

It is working fine for me under Mavericks. I have the same scanner.

I installed the "Scanning Module for Mac OS X" (http://www.mustek.com/product_resources/drivers/scanner/usbport/1200Pro/ImageAcq uire.zip) and the driver listed as "For MAC OS 10.4 ~ 10.6" (http://www.mustek.com/product_resources/drivers/scanner/usbport/1200Pro/SE%20A3% 20USB%201200%20Pro.zip).

Update on the European Driver for the A3 1200 Pro Scanner: Even though it is listed as the driver for the A3 1200 Pro on their website in my link above, it is actually the driver for the 1200S. They just replied to my question about that . Their response...

"The 1200 Pro should have his own driver for Mac 10.9 We have contacted the manufacturer already to update the Mac drivers. As soon as it is available we will place the new driver on our website."

I had the same issue and followed NOYBUS suggestion. it worked.

  1. I downloaded the 'Uninstalls driver from OSX' and did that first.
  2. then installed Image Aquire
  3. then installed the 10.4 - 10.6 driver, the newest listed.

I was able to open and scan frrom Image Aquire without even a reboot. I am in 10.9 powerbook without a fresh install, so that probably doesn't make a difference. I can not scan from Photoshop CC.

I had tired the TWAIN route before Maverics and never got it to work, so actually I'm better off after the upgrade then before, though I do miss scanning into Photoshop. I'm thrilled to have it back!

since they still sell them, why they can't get this done since 10.6 is bizzaro.

Well I made the mistake of ignoring all the comments made on this and other sites.

OS 10.9.6

Just took delivery of the scanner.

Can't get it to work.

Most annoying is that there is no indication that it is receiving power.

I keep getting the message: "The scanner is not connected. Please check the USB cable".

Have mailed Mustek, I guess its a bit early for a reply but there's no confirmation they received my email either.

At their site http://www.onlinestore.mustek.com/product/mustek-a3-2400s/

the product description says of system requirements "Mac OS X 10.4 – 10.7" ! ! !

Now they tell me.

The amazon uk page says "Compatible with PC and MAC".

I got it through amazon.es. They mention neither windows nor mac os.

Well, I'm still trying every combination of drivers etc but if no success in next two days then back it will have to go (and that might be fun).
