4G in Belgium

Dear Apple / customers

When will we have 4G unlocked for carriers that provide 4G in Belgium? Mobistar does not have 4G and with the iPhone 5 we have the possibility to use 4G only on the Mobistar carrier. Proximus and Base provide 4G but with an iPhone 5 it is not possible to use these fast networks?

Does anyone has an idea when we Belgians can access fast networks with our beloved machines?

Meg: in EU we believe in freedom to choose, I'd not call it weird, it's called free market and you should know that Microsoft few years ago had to pay a huge fine to EU for having tried to impose (like in US) to use Explorer... it's accepted in US it's not accepted in EU since we have a liberal tradition/culture

Chris: if I want 4g apple denies me the possibility to choose the carrier I want, they choose for me and they choose normally the most expensive... pity they don't advise you when you buy the iPhone 4g

Ok, now that I've stopped laughing.....

Please provide citiations from EU law that state you are free to use any phone on any carrier, regardless of technological hurdles or business decisions made by those companies? Philosophical notions of "freedom of choice" do not generally carry the force of law.

Best of luck.

Meg, thanks a lot for challeging me ;-) I've found it!

I've contacted FPS the belgian entity for consumer protection and they told me I can file a complain here: http://economie.fgov.be/en/disputes/complaints/where_how_submit_complaint/#.Uq7b oaJ6YfU

regarding the fact that Apple when sells an iPhone doesn't advise there are limitations imposed by them for the use of 4G-LTE, this is infringment of consumer rights yupieeeeee! they'll take legal actions for that.

belgian users join me!!
of course I'll post this link in all the forums open in belgium :-)

Anyone can file a complaint about anything.

Doesn't mean thr complaint is valid or a cause for conern or anything.

Filing simply means it will get reviewed.

I've bought it on the Belgian Apple store and I never got a disclaimer in all the documentation I received, at FPS (government entity) they told me I've all the condition to raise the complaint and that I'm not the only one, actually they are waiting to collect all the requests to evaluate an eventual class action (they referred me a similar issue in Australia where there was a class action because iPad were sold as 4G-LTE but they were not compatible with AU frequencies)
