Mavericks Mail not sync'ing IMAP act. (Not GMail)

I have been waiting silently to see if a fix would come on its own, but none yet. Ever since upgrading to Mavericks, Mail.app does NOT sync my IMAP accounts correctly. I have gone so far as to remove and re-add the accounts numerous times... no change. The recent "update" that was supposed to address Gmail issues had no affect on my sync'ing issues either. As others have posted, I basically have to quit and re-launch mail for it to correctly show what is on the mail server. All of my iDevices are working just fine - I can read or move an email, and all my iDevices show it correctly... but when I return to my Mac - some show as unread - some messages that I moved or deleted are still THERE (unread), etc.

Once I quit and relaunch, the inbox displays correctly - but there is no way (that I can find) to force the inbox to "refresh" correctly while the app is open. "Getting new" messages does nothing to help. Has anyone found a solution or work-around...? or is this just a "sit back and wait for Apple to fix" kind of problem...?

Thanks,

SF

Mail is not connecting to the server after OS X Mavericks update. Meanwhile the same setting is working from Ipad, Iphone and even in windows mail. We have an exclusive mail server in our office. Connecting to mail server is easy only on the same server network with the same setting only by changing the server local address, but not working by the server IP from the internet.

Hi,

I think I have some good news. I was having all the problems discussed here and following a letter to Tim Cook, was asked to be in the seed program for 10.9.2. The first few updates did nothing for me but with the latest update and with unchecking show All Mail in Gmail settings and letting Mail rebuild those mailboxes, I am now satisfied with Mail's performance. I have not downloaded today's final 10.9.2 update, but if it performs as well as the latest seed, then we should all be happier campers.

Fingers crossed.

Bob,

That is indeed very encouraging news. I had given up the will to email (with Apple Mail at least) and have converted to Airmail - which is actually very good. There are some minor problems in Airmail, more annoyances really - and very few of them, but nothing like the Apple mail problems. At least it delivers my Gmail immediately and keep in sync with my iPhone and iPad. So I've been happy to use it, and ignore all the crazy 'work arounds' that seem to be required to get Apple Mail to work, occassionally. Let's face it, it isn't fixed.

But this is really encouraging. Bob, please do keep us all updated as 10.9.2 progresses towards release. I would switch back to Mail if they finally do fix the problems. But boy, has Mavericks and Mail dented my confidence in Apple....

Ok guys n gals... so check this out.

It WAS working kinda good for me BEFORE I updated to 10.9.2.

And now, all messages are out of sync again.

I'm going bonkers.

Tim, if you read this... I'm out man!

This is just INSANELY rediculous.

I'm going to delete and re-ad my mailboxes and if that fails, I'll trash my MBP, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and send it to Cupertino along with an invoice for waisting weeks of my precious time and endangering my business.

I downloaded the OS 10.9.2 update last night and fully expected it to immediately solve the Mail issuues, following Bob's note earlier yesterday.

But it didn't, initially. Still had all the syncing issues with iPad, iPhone, and Airmail (that I had been using very successfully for some time, in place of Mail). But then I read Bob's post again, and went back and unchecked the IMAP 'all mail' boxes in my 3 Gmail accounts, and then re built the mailboxes.

And now Mail seems to be working perfectly 🙂 So I've switched back to Mail (and will keep Airmail going in the background for a couple of weeks to double check Mail stays in sync).

Disapointing that its taken Apple 4 months to fix this, and even then it isn't exactly plug-and-play for Gmail accounts. But a huge step forwards nevertheless.
