why folders disappear from finder sidebar in mavericks?
Why do, for no apparent reason, the folders I have added to the Finder's sidebar just disappear when I open a Finder window?

Doesn't work
Most certainly. I sent a bug report in and it was deleted because it was a duplicate of another already reported.
brycesteiner, pabloninos: are you by any chance running Parallels or something like that? I am myself and I'm wondering if it has something to do with my similar issue...?
In know it's ridiculous. I've tried CIFS and SMB with no joy
The folder of aliases isn't very elegant but I think of it as a "special sidebar for network drives" and then it all feels a bit better. After all, that's what the sidebar is really - aliases.
Nah, I'm running 10.12.3 and it's still doing it 😠
How is your network managed? I've come to attribute my network mapping issues to the fact that we don't have a proper Window-managed network - just running from a Synology NAS.
We've got Windows SBS network shares and a OSX Server with a Hive raid, guess which one plays nicely with the sidebar and doesn't lose connections when the mac sleeps.
It's a windows managed network with active directory users
No. Not running Parrallels. I've got a copy but never installed. This is connected to a Mac running MacOS 10.12.3 with Server App. It's everything Apple specifies.
I'm running Parallels and having the problem

I'm not running Parallels or similar software and I'm having this problem, so the two are unrelated I think.
I noticed that the problems began when Apple went from cats to next generation of names.
Judging by the posts I've read, I think you might be right.
Now whenever I drag a folder from the local drive to the sidebar, all my other work folder DISAPPEAR. ***? This is a serious disruption to workflow.
