why folders disappear from finder sidebar in mavericks?
Why do, for no apparent reason, the folders I have added to the Finder's sidebar just disappear when I open a Finder window?

Is this just after the update 10.12.4?
I did an update yesterday but this has been ongoing.
Easy fix. Thank you.
At one point I was convinced that it was Parallels doing it to me but I think I convinced myself it wasn't that after all. It's very hard to troubleshoot.
After all these years, Apple listened to its users?! 🙂
Now, october 2017, with macOS High Sierra, a lot of issues are fixed.
Also this one.
So, get the new update and enjoy a smooth, stable OS 😍
I upgraded to High Sierra. I'll know in a day or two if sidebars are fixed. Not holding my breath.
Apple did not fix it.
I've been using 10.12.6 for some time and it repeatedly loses mapped drives AND favorites. Buggy, buggy, buggy.
On 10.13 and my server just spontaneously disconnected and the sidebars disappeared.
Since so many years no fix to this annoying bug! I still can confirm it with HighSierra...
I know, but that's a really olfashioned "workaround"... it's unbelievable for a "modern" OS
Thanks. That did it for me. Now I know :-)
I'm on El Capitan 10.11.6 and it is still occurring
Started a few o/s's ago - and was fine for several months until today. It's usually shortcuts from the external drives
