How do I stop safari pop ups?

Just received an email from the Bingo Bash developers. Here it is:

The big question really is how this is happening. It is embedded in our devices somehow (through an ad server maybe?) and we can't get rid of it. Has someone contacted Apple about this?

I'd think this is a pretty big security issue.

My wife has started to have the same problem in a game on her iPad, Mahjong :). It's annoying to say the least. I don't know what to do about it except that I've emailed the company that sells the game.

This keeps happening to me too, but the only website it ever pops up on is wattpad.com . I've searched all over Google for a solution and apparently: Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings will solve it. I tried it a couple of hours ago and so far it hasn't popped up again but it's still too early to say! (Resetting won't delete any of your apps or anything)

Any ideas of why I'm suddenly getting directed to googleads.com when I'm in games? I've cleared cookies, I'm not sure what to do at this point. Any suggestions?

The same thing is happening to me except I get pop ups from **** sites which I find totally unacceptable. When I notified Apple the response was, and I quote, "just ignore them". I told them I had cleared cache and history. These pop ups started right after I upgraded the iOS on Sunday April 27, 2014. Can you say Apple "care"?????

What happened to me was an advertisement pop up having only "OK" for me to click and I could not go to any other tab. Closing/exiting the browser did not work and neither did I turn off the iPad and turn on again.

So, I went to Settings > Safari to poke around. I just want to make sure the "block pop up" is on. But it was already on, so I did a few other things just to make my browsing better without thinking it would help solving my problem. Then I went back to Safari and the whole Safari is reset. Clean!! Voila!

I guess one of the things I did must have worked. I don't want to recreate the problem, so I am not sure which one. Here is what I did -

1) changed blocked cookies from "accepting from 3rd party" to "always"

2) cleared cache

3) changed search engine from Yahoo to Google. (I was using Google, but was changed to Yahoo a few weeks ago)

Have just followed your advice re: changed blocked cookies from "accepting from 3rd party" to "always" and the pop ups have stopped.

Did you try the Esc (escape) button? It (sometimes) works for me when nothing but compliance is jammed down our throats.
