ios 7.0.4 Update battery issue again!

I just did the update and after I unplugged from charging overnight my battery drained over 50% in a 1/2 hour on standby!!!! Why does this garbage continue to happen? Anyone else having this issue. FYI, before update I had everything turned off to save battery life so no stranger to the ios7 battery issue but thought it was not going to happen with an update.

Well following my original post about this battery drain issue after upgrading to 7.0.4 I now have an update. Apple did what they promised & delivered me a new IP5 & took away the old one, the new phone arrived with I O S 6.1.? 4 or 5 I think which would not let me restore from my backup in I tunes as the OS was too old. I reluctantly decided to do the update to the dreaded I O S 7.0.4 so as to retrieve my settings & App’s which all went fine. Much to my surprise all is good now, my phone is still on 100% after 4 hours of doing nothing. Whilst whingeing in the office most of today I learned that 4 of my colleagues have upgraded & have the battery problem! One guy however has done the upgrade (4S) & all is well. I don’t know if this is significant but all the people in my office with this issue upgraded from an earlier I O S 7 the guy without the problem upgraded from I O S 6? Well the new phone worked for me but what a palaver! I am still convinced that there is some sort of compatibility issue with this update & Apple need to address this quickly. These phones for most of us are not luxuries but essentials & are expensive too. I will keep looking for answers & post any relevant info here.

Wow - That's amazing that so many people have this problem. I'd imagine at this point Apple must be well aware of the issue and are working to fix it. But like you said, our phones have become essential and many of us do not have the time to wait around and hope another update fixes the problem. I didn't have a chance last night to restore my backup so I'll do that as soon as I get home today. I have faith this time that all will be okay. (Have to have something to be thankful for on Thanksgiving, right?)

I'll also keep you all posted on my own experience and any others I hear of.

I've a 4S which was running OK. Now I certainly notice intense battery drain with 7.0.4. I've turned off background functions that could affect battery performance (though I find that lame....all the functions are there, but you can't use them without killing a battery?). Anyway, it's not as fast a drain as some people are reporting, but within a few hours I can go from 100% to 30% without doing anything with the phone.

I would like to see it fixed, so it becomes reliable. I can't always have a charger handy. Otherwise when the contract is up, I start wondering if the Apple smartphone is truly the best choice any more....

Ran across this today: iOS7 Download Release: 7.0.4 Update Issues Continue to Bug Users

http://www.designntrend.com/articles/9311/20131125/ios-7-download-release-0-4-up date-issues-bug.htm

Battery drain is listed as one of the bugs, so we're definitely not the only ones with this problem.

Looks like we won't be seeing the 7.1 update til late January. Of course the estimates could be off, but this and all the other articles I've seen on the subject are putting it around that time.

I'm getting an external battery pack to get by til Santa brings my new phone. I'd thought battery packs were more expensive, but Amazon has a few for around $30 that have good reviews.

Well, after doing the full Restore of my own settings, apps, music, etc. on Wednesday evening, all seems to have returned to normal. Mind you, this was after having them replace my phone with one that already had 7.0.4 installed. I still have all the settings optimized to reduce battery drain as I had before this fiasco. Using my phone off and on all day I can usually get through the day without having to recharge until night time.

I wish everyone the best with this issue. If you're still under warranty, I'd suggest demanding a replacement phone. If you're not, here's hoping for a quick fix for you!

Hello from Madrid, Spain.

Same problem with an iPhone 5 using 7.0.4

Changed two times by a Genius, and still the same problem since 7.0.4 arrived. I have done lot of tests today, monitoring processes and CPU usage with some apps like BMSSM, and all gave the same result:

- Process "kbd" (starts when we call the keyboard) rest in use making the CPU working at 100%, even if the iPhone is in standby mode. The only way to stop it is restarting the phone, but before the fifth time you use the keyboard, the process will rest frozen draining the battery.

Apple, we need an update!

Hi

I proudly announced here on Wednesday that following the arrival of a new I phone 5 courtesy of Apple my battery issues were solved! & Indeed they were for two days all was great.

Now however despite making no changes to the phone at all I am back to a flat battery in 5 hours without me using it.

You are correct in what you say about the phone being in use by itself whilst in standby.

Due to no network coverage at my home, my provider has given me a home signal box (femtocell) which routes all my calls down my Internet, this works great. When making calls via the box a green light flashes to indicate the box is in use, when not in use the green light is constant. When my phone is connected the light is constantly flashing so I know the phone is hammering the network via this box.

I have tried the fix suggested from Madrid but this did not work for me. I am not interested in turning everything off to save battery it was all on before this update & was no problem. I remember Apple claiming that I O S is the most advanced phone operating system available! This now does not appear to be the case does it?

There is a bug in this update & it needs sorting now before Android takes over the world.

I think Santa’s sleigh will be heavy with Android devices this year & e-bay snowed under with one owner little used I phones, well we can’t use them as the battery is flat eh?

I will be using my Android HTC until this is fixed as I can’t be bothered to mess with this anymore, I have found it quite liberating to use a smart-phone that works & I can do stuff with without being handcuffed to bloody I Tunes “HAPPY DAYS”

Hi Again

Just turned off cellular data & the ussage has stopped, it was transfering data down the cellular network despite being connected to WI FI

I know turning this off defeats the object really but at least it shows where the issue is.

I have used 1.9 gig of cellular data since wednesday which is crazy as the phone is almost always on a WI FI network and apart from a few e-mails I have done nothing with it.

I do have unlimited data thank God, I now have a phone that works as a phone without excessive battery use but no mobile internet. There is a list of apps usage but this does not nearly tally up to the total usage, in fact it only adds up to 138 meg.

I notice in my networks firewall logs that our i pads spend a lot of time contacting Apple HQ at night when we think they are sleeping, maybe our phones are doing the same down the cellular network!

ios 7.0.4 Update battery issue again!
