Iphone5 with ios7.0.4 power button problem

I am using an iphone5 upgraded the IOS to 7.0.4 and now it seems that my power button no longer works..


Is it an software problem? Till before the update it seems to still be working

Yes, thanks to someone else who reminded me that some credit cards extend the warranty I did just that. One phone call and the insurance company sent me the form. simple to fill in, attached the credit card statement and the original Apple invoice, 2 weeks later a cheque for the full amount :-)


What did I do? Bought a new Iphone 5s.....hope I'm not back on here in 13 months saying this button has failed as well....

Yes, I used this guide http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPhone+5+Audio+Control+and+Power+Button+Cable+Replac ement/10792 and tools/part from them.


This is not a repair for the faint of heart as it is quite extensive with screws/parts that are so small you need a tweezers to hold onto with.


As another poster said, it doesn't seem to make sense that this part would fix the problem, but it did for me.
