iPad mini retina speakers/volume

I just bought my mom a R-mini on sunday and received it today. I, too, noticed the sound isn't as loud as it should be I dont own any other apple products but my Nexus 7 and though at max volume the R-mini does seem slightly a tad weenie bit louder, I feel like it should be louder! If this is what Apple has done with the new mini's then let us know!

I also have the issue of very low volume on my iPad mini Retina. I have tried everything, but nothing works to fix it. No one seems to know whether it is a software or hardware issue. I'm going to wait a while and if there is fix I'll take it back and try to get a replacement (not so easy, since they are constrained).

Ditto. iPad Mini Retina 128. Volume low at max, and declines inordinately quickly with each successive step down so as to be almost inaudible at <50%. Own also the iPad Retina (last gen before Air) and 5s. No such problem on any other device. Nothing attempted thus far has increased max volume which, if it were the same as the 5s, would be satisfactory.

I just brought my new iPad mini retina home and found this issue. It is totally unacceptable. I just sold a perfectly good brand new iPad mini to get the retina model, now I have neither and lost money.

Will return it for a refund, hope they fix this.

The rMini is my 3rd apple product owned and so for this one was a bit disappointing. I turned on a game at half volume and when the game loaded I didn't hear anything and I had to turned it up to max to actually hear something. The sounds no bueno!

I returned mine. I was offered a full refund and took it. I'll hold off for a few weeks/months before I buy another. I'm not running the risk of getting another just the same. It seems this issue might be affecting 100% of them, and most just haven't noticed. Expecting Apple's first product recall in memory.

How was it, did they manage to solve the volume issue for you?

I returned mine as well and am with "ia.", I'll wait till it is resolved. I have a tough time digesting that it's going to be like that and not fixed, seems to be a huge oversight. To be honest I didn't think the retina image was as good as my iPad 4 either, so that pushed me over to return it. It ran fast though, seemed faster than my iPad 4 but not 2x IMO.

I have considered the iPad Air, but would need to accessorize again as most of my iPad 4 stuff won't work, but I just can't cross that bridge with cost at the moment.

Well I solved the problem, got a smoking deal on a first gen ipad mini, no volume issue and screen is quite good.

If they come up with a fix I'm certainly open to it, but for the deal I got on the first gen mini, I could not resist.

I want to know whether it's 100% of all iPads experiencing this or just a few of us.

I'll probably head to the Apple Store some time later but just want to confirm because if it's every device, then there's no point in exchanging.

I'm not taking any chances. I still have my "old" iPad mini so I'll wait a few months and then buy it again.

I live in switzerland and i have the same problem with my ipad mini retina.

I had two different iPad Mini's w/Retina Display from two different stores, both had the same problem.

As stated above I got a smoking deal on a first gen mini and recently picked up an iPad Air. The Air is outstanding, granted it has a few bugs but all in all if the Retina mini was like the Air would have kept it.
