Netflix quality HORRID after update

I made the mistake of updating to latest firmware, 6.0.2. Ever since, Netflix quality *****. SuperHD used to be so sharp and crisp. Now it's pixelated and NOT hd in the least bit!

How can I undo the software change? Has anyone else had this issue?

Confirming this as well. Only getting 560kbps then eventually 320kbps during peak on ATV3 wired to router. Getting 5800kbps immediately on Roku. HBOGO on ATV3 looks great. This leads me to believe it is definitely in Apple's court.

*I have reset ATV3 and logged out/back in to Netflix. No difference.

Comcast 15down/4up

Apple TV 3

Roku3

Same issue as everyone else - Netflix was good until a week or so ago.

Quality is poor on update 6.0.1 and 6.0.2.

Netflix problems only, good wifi signal, HD on first seconds then pushed down to SD and the Example video only streams at 700kps.

Not a software problem but maybe a problem between Apple TV and Netflix since they updated their UI for all other systems.

Hope a 6.1 Update fixes the mashup

I agree with Tony Ramirez that it seems the Apple TV is now too sensitive (conservative) in the way it is managing the adaptive streams. I can monitor the real-time bandwidth on my router and would make two observations

- When I switch to Apple TV after playing Netflix from the Chromecast at Supper HD / 5800 kbps I can see in my router that the Apple TV starts downloading at full 16 Mbps and sometimes even plays the 5800 kbps stream on the 'Example Short'. This lasts for 8 - 10 seconds then you can see the stream stutter and it drops 1750 kbps (or less). If I restart a Netflix title on the Apple TV after watching another Netflix title on the Apple TV it always starts at the (poor) quality of the previous title.

- The 10 minute average on the router is quite a bit higher than you would expect from the stream displayed in Example Short (even allowing for audio and filling a buffer on the Apple TV) - suggesting it is getting higher data rate but is not switching up to display the next video quality level.

Hello!

I thought I shared my experience as well.

Netflix runs with a max bitrate of 1050 (or 750 most of the time, via the Example vid) on my ATV, but in full 5000 on my PS3. I live in Norway, and I am using a payed DNS service. I can even stream 3D movies via my PS3, so it seems that it is indeed the ATV app that is causing trouble. The wierd thing is that it only happens when I stream from the US Netflix, not the Norwegian or the UK one.

I have a 15/5 internet connection, so I know that it is enough to run FullHD. Neved had an issue with the ATV though.

Confirming same issue here and definitely confined to Netflix on AppleTV. In a test this morning at 10am EST my ATV Netflix stream maxed out at 560kbs while my PS3 streamed at 5800kbs. Both devices are connected to my network via ethernet through the same router (connnected to my Airport Extreme). My iPad maxed as at 3000kbs over wi-fi. All other channels on my ATV display high quality HD video with no problems.

FWIW, I have Comcast internet and get >50mbs download and 10mbs upload.
