Can anyone access the 3 Disney Channels on Apple TV?

All were working fine not 2 days ago, now none work on any of my 3 Apple TV's. Just get an "Accessing Disney (Junior, XD, Channel)" and a pinwheel of death that goes no where. I updated the software on a couple days ago when prompted. Perhaps that is messing things up? I even reset one of my devices to facotry settings (ugh!) and still doesn't work. Every other channel works, except for the Disney's. I double checked to see if they dropped my provider and they haven't. I can access them on my macbook air, just not Apple TV.

I have 3 year old twins who need their Jake and the Neverland Pirates!

ThomasG -

I've had both issues here. One where you could not access the App at all (constant processing) and the 400-1 error where you needed to sign out and then re-activate.

The first issue of access seems to be resolved for me. After reading your post, I tried the Disney App and sure enough, after a few days of inactivity at Disney, the 400-1 error is there. Of course, the pain in the neck fix is to simply re-activate.

So where in fact do the problems initiate from. Is it Apple TV or the Disney App. No one seems to know for sure.

I agree with and understand your complaint, but the rest of Apple TV is working great and I would recommend Apple TV, albeit the problems with the Disney App.

I'm on WiFi, so the issue seems to be for both Ethernet and WiFi.

The main advantage to me, of ATV, is how it intigrates with IOS devices and OS X, ie: Airplay and Home Sharing. If these are important or useful functions to people, they will continue to use ATV despite the issues with Disney. If not people will start to take a look at other devices like Roku.

AppleTV icon displaying Watch ABC ... I click the icon. I am asked which cable provider I am subscribed to. I respond Comcast. I am then provided an Activation code and asked to log (laptop/ipad/mobile) into www.watchabc.com/activate. Accordingly, I log in (via Safari) and insert my Activation code. The next screen I get is a statement that I need to be a cable subscriber. I am a subscriber of course.

The issue is with ABCsupport, but their response (request#221242) is that I need to change browsers from Safari to Chrome.

Joe, how do we get Apple involvement to resolve an ABCsupport issue?

1) If you are not recognized as a cable subscriber, then this seems to be an issue between you and the cable subscriber. It's not your browser, as the rest of us are not having issues with the browser. As ThomasG said, once you put in your activation code, if you are not logged in, you will be required to log in to complete the activation. If you can't do that, then there is where your problem is. Apple can't help with that. Only your cable provider can.

2) Getting Apple Involved: You can not get Apple involved unless this Discussion reaches 100 pages or more with many more people complaining than just the few of us. What you can do temporarily is to provide Apple TV Feedback to Apple. That's about all you can do.

P.S. The response from your cable provider to switch browsers is the age old excuse to blame the Apple eco system instead of admitting they do not know how to fix your issue.

Jeffrey, I just remembered something else. When you are on the Xfinity site and have logged in, make sure you can play the online TV shows in your browser. I have a few different Comcast I.D.s and there is only one that is connected with my cable TV. I must be logged in using that I.D. If you can't watch any TV on the Xfinity site after logging in, you have an issue with Comcast that can only be resolved with them. It happened to me and it was really hard for them to troubleshoot until they discovered they had my account coded incorrectly.

Odd. I'm able to use AppleTV to watch "DisneyChannel" though still unable to access "WatchABC". Both apps assumably the same company & IT engineering. I'm able to access live tv via my ComcastXfinity account so no mixup here. I spent another hour with Comcast between three departments to no resolve. Given new updated who should I lean on: Comcast, ABC, or Apple?

This is he first apple product I have ever absolutely hated. Bought this atv a month ago with hopes of viewing Disney in my kids room. Thought it would be easier than running a cable line... At first I got an error about Disney not available in my region. Worked with Apple for a few hours and reset the device countless times. In the end apple to me just to exchange for a new one. Of course that new one had the same issue. So I put it away, should have returned the thing. Now a month later I see there was an update, now just get this spinning wheel and a note on the screen accessing <app> (Disney, abc, etc). Disney (all three) won't load nor the abc app. This thing has yet again turned into a paperweight and not sure I want to bother with apple support again. This thing is utter crap and very frustrating.

I'm having the same issues. Al, 3 apps are not working. Just the whole accessing channel thing. I've done every suggestion and nothing. I called watchdisney customer support and no help. Said they would open a file and contact me when they found a solution. Two days later I get an email saying that it was now closed and fixed..... And the fix was wait and keep trying. Still no fix or anything. Very frustrating.

Try doing what I did. Unplug the power cord and the hdmi cable from the Apple TV unit and also remove the hdmi from the tv. Wait 4 hours or more and plug it back in and try. I had the same issue and like yourself tried everything. This was the only trick that worked. Apple support and disney support had me unplug for 30 seconds to a minute but it never worked.

Unfortunately, this doesn't resolve the issue. The fact that I have Disney, but not ABC is confounding. It's the same authentication (cable subscription) process. I have had a dozen emails back/forth with ABC with no resolve. I encourage others to contact ABC if they are having issues (in addition to posting herein):
