Screensaver won't come on. Mavericks

I'm having the same issue. i just got my macbook today. Do you think that since it's new that it may take a few days for it to kick in? PS I'm brand new to the macbook world so you may have to dumb down your answers for me.

Nevermind. After toying around I found how to fix it. I went under sys pref > energy saver and found that it was set to put my computer to sleep after 10 minutes (plugged in). So I changed that to 1 hour then set the screensaver time to check if it would work on that time and it does!

Thanks so much, Erik. I couldn't upload videos to youtube when I began using Mavericks because the upload would stop when the Mac went into the sleep mode (I have a slow connection so stuff takes forever to upload and I can't hang around to wait until it's finished). Now, thanks to you, the screensaver is working and it no longer goes into the sleep mode now that the plist is on the Desktop. Merci beaucoup for the screen shots. It helped a lot.

Dog gone it! It did it again. I thought the problem was solved because I did a test, set the screen saver for a minute and it came on. But it will only stay on for a little while, then it goes off and the computer goes into the sleep mode. How frustrating. Another upload ruined.

After seeing your post, I looked at my energy saver and discovered that it was set to go to sleep after 2 minutes!!! My frustration for many months has now been solved, thanks to you!
